I was reading this article featured in the Daily Mail yesterday and immediately thought "what a load of bollocks!" (excuse my language). You expect to hear clubs having a moan about losing a big name player as we hear it all the time, but to hear it about the manager is something else.
Let me start by quoting exactly what was said by the Porto President Pinto da Costa has said:
“Villas-Boas was living with Mourinho’s ghost. He was afraid he would not have the same success as in his first season. I think that was the crucial aspect in his departure.
If I was his father I would have told him what I told him as his president and his friend: that he should have stayed at FC Porto.
In football, when you talk about European giants, the measure is not Chelsea. It’s Real Madrid, Barcelona or Manchester United. I told him that this would be Guardiola’s last season at Barcelona and that was the ideal club for him, but he was scared of the comparisons with Mourinho and left.'
See what I mean! Absolute rubbish isn't it. Granted the point made about European giants is correct at the moment as until we win the Champions League we could never truly say we are one of the top sides in Europe.
However, the rest of it is ridiculous. Listen, Porto were well aware of the interest in their manager and that's why they stuck this £13.3m release fee in his contract, so they knew at some stage they would lose him if the fee was paid.
Secondly, All AVB has done in his short career so far as manager has tried to distance himself with any comparisons with Jose. Why would he be scared of trying to emulate Mourinho when he wants to live his own life and create his own mark on football?.
With having experience of Premier League football, having the chance to make his mark here quicker than planned, at the same time being paid massive amounts of money to work with world class facilities and players, why would he not take the chance?.
AVB is his own man and will prove to everyone here that he is exactly that. Let's hope that sooner rather than later people will stop comparing the two and focus on the future of Chelsea with AVB at the helm with no sign of the so called Ghost of Mourinho!

Plus why would he come to another of Jose's old clubs if he was afraid of Jose's ghost. What a load of bullshite.
