As expected Jeffrey Bruma has signed on loan with Hamburg for a year with the option to extend the loan for another year afterwards.
I know AVB said that he wanted to have a look at everyone but with Bruma it is different. With JT, Alex, Ivanovic and David Luiz ahead of him in the pecking order, the deal makes perfect sense rather than sell him on somewhere.
To me, the fact it is a loan indicates that Chelsea value him and want to keep hold of him while he goes through this stage of his development in Germany, rather than sell him on.
If anything, it gives Bruma the perfect platform to show exactly what he can do. By the time the loan finishes (if the option of the second year is taken) he will come back to Chelsea as a 21 year old defender with a couple of years experience playing first team football.
That can only be of a benefit to both the player and Chelsea. Good luck to him and a great decision by the club in my book!.
