Let me start by saying that I really rate David Villa and he has had a good first season at Barcelona hasn't he!. I was surprised to read yesterday that Pep Guardiola is "reportedly" looking at having to offload Villa in order to finance moves for players he wants to bring into Barcelona.
Now I think it's common knowledge that Barcelona have massive debt problems. As far the report goes it is claiming that a renewed bid for Cesc Fabregas is on the horizon. Arsene Wenger stands firm on Fabregas and still states he will not be sold and "will" remain an Arsenal player so with that in mind I do have to question the validity of this story about Villa.
Why would Barcelona even contemplate letting go of Villa after the success he has had this season? There is talk of ex Manchester United forward Rossi in Guardiola's thinking so if he comes in, then maybe Villa will make way but only in my opinion to fund a bid for Fabregas. Like I said, Arsenal do not seem to want to budge so it could be a pointless exercise.
From our point of view, I would like to see Villa and Torres play up front together more than I would like to see Torres and Aguero. Villa and Torres compliment each other perfectly and Villa is more than happy to drift out wide which would suit Torres to sticking where he is good at which is down the middle.
The report also states that Villa would be "offered" to Man City as well as us and you would have to question if the player is driven by money or if he would prefer to come to London to link up with Torres?.
Either way, I do find it difficult to believe that this will happen as I think the Fabregas situation remains a no-go. Even still, if the player was available I would bite your hand off to sign him!.
What do you people think? Is there any truth in this at all and would you like to see him line up with Fernando Torres at Chelsea?
