We all know Manchester City's transfer policy of not selling anyone of their players to a club they see as a direct rival to them so let's forget all this talk about Carlo Tevez now. With City winning the FA Cup and confirming their qualification for the Champions League next season, it's pretty much certain that we will see an exodus of players leaving Eastlands and their owner splashing the cash on big big names this summer.
That's all well and good and to be expected but do you not get the feeling that whoever Chelsea are looking at it seems that City will go in for them too!.
Take Juan Mata of Valenica for example. Ever since Fernando Torres came to Chelsea and struggled to score goals, the press have been touting Mata's name about being linked to Chelsea as if reports are to be believed, he could be the key to opening the door for Torres next season. The player is highly rated and knowing as well do that Valenica have financial problems, they could be looking to cash in on the winger in a deal worth around £22m.
Of course as us Chelsea fans will realise, alot of it could just be paper talk or pure speculation, but I really have to wonder if we will have to face a battle with City now for virtually all our signings and not just us, but the likes of United etc too.
City have the wealth to do it and want to be competing next season for the Premier League so it's understandable. The only danger for City would be the fact that the days of Chelsea and United buying 6-8 players each summer are long gone as both clubs look to strengthen what they have with maybe 2 or 3 high profile signings.
City are in danger of creating a revolving door at Eastlands season in, season out and that is what could be their downfall and prevent them for making a realistic title challenge.

Your one example is Juan Mata, who has been linked with City since before Christmas as he played alongside David Silva at Valencia.
ReplyDeletePretty sure a lot of clubs want Mata, his reputation extends beyond Chelsea buying Torres.
