Big games require big players to make an impact and to do exactly what they have been brought to the club to do. Wayne Rooney´s goal and performance for United at Stamford Bridge was an example of exactly that a week ago. As for Chelsea, our big players drifted out of the game and we never really got going. If Chelsea are to beat United tonight, we need all our players to get out on that pitch with a different attitiude, a winning mentality and a desire to impose our game onto them.
Do we have the players? Yes we do. Do we have the quality? Yes we do, can we beat United? YES WE CAN.
Chelsea have the bonus of fielding their full strength back four tonight (Champions League) as Alex should return next to JT with Ivanovic moving to right back. Expect Wayne Rooney and Hernandez to start the game up front but I am confident we can keep these two quiet. With our back four lining up like that we look much more solid and have options going forward for set plays, an area United are weak defensively.
Our midfield needs to work hard tonight to win the ball and to use it effectively. I want to see Chelsea looking for quick balls into our forwards or the killer pass to split United´s defence. Last week we looked as though we ran out of ideas and focused on passing the ball side to side without any real killer pass of note. The one ball we played through, Ramires was brought down for the stone wall penalty that was never given.
Frank Lampard has an opportunity to exploit the gap between their defence and midfield tonight as I have pointed out in my tactical analysis of United´s weaknesses. Chelsea never exposed them last week, tonight should be different.
The question remains of Fernando Torres. I believe he should start the game as I have said already, Big Players are bought to do a job and what better place to start in a Chelsea shirt but at Old Trafford in front of 75,000 fans.
United will have their moments in the game so Chelsea need to remain tight, compact and work hard to win the ball back. We have better players than United, we have more match winners in our side than they do. We just need to ensure we find them at the right time and they can take their chances.
I expect Chelsea to line up with 4-3-3 tonight. Drogba to play around Torres through the middle with Malouda on the left. I could be wrong, but in a game like tonight both Drogba and Torres HAVE to play. They have had their critics and people questioning whether or not they can play together, tonight is the perfect opportunity to show the world they can.
I am confident about tonight and can see Chelsea scoring an early goal to put the cat amongst the pigeons and the nerves taking hold with their players and their fans. United beware, you know just how good our record is there.
So to sum up, I am confident of a Chelsea win tonight and Torres and Drogba to score. If United score there´s no panic as I believe we will score at least twice tonight.
We just need our big players to stand up and be counted for once this season. They owe it to themselves, the club and the supporters. If ever there is a game that Chelsea WILL BE up for it´s this one!.
Come on Chelsea, don´t choke but play your best, have no fear and enjoy shutting Fergie and all the negative press up for once this season!
Chelsea to score at least two and go through!
COME ON CHELSEA!
