This morning on talkSport, Kevin Phillips, speaking to their breakfast show added his voice to the many on the situation at Chelsea regarding Fernando Torres and his current run of games without scoring. Although he says he feels for him at the moment, he also states that he wouldn't want to be in Torres' shoes.
He said:
It’s frustrating for him and he’s obviously got added pressure on top of his shoulders because of the money. He’s switched to Chelsea who wanted him for the Champions League and now they’re out. I feel for him. As a player when you’re scoring regularly you know you’re going to score, when you go through that little bad patch though you just think, I need a little bit if luck here.
It would be interesting to see if Chelsea get a penalty whether he takes it or not, I don’t think he would take it. If he did take it, I don’t think you’ll see a clinical finish, you’ll see a scuffed shot maybe in the corner.
When you’ve got 10-11 games without a goal it’s difficult, he’s just got to try and grind this season out and try and come back stronger next year.
I wouldn’t want to be in his shoes at the moment.”
I know he hasn't scored yet and has come close a couple of times but I need to keep reminding people, form is temporary, class is permanent and Fernando Torres WILL BE a fantastic signing for Chelsea.
