Petr Cech, who always likes to come out and speak to the media and various times in the season has heaped pressure on Arsenal after they have dropped four points in the last two games at home to Liverpool and away to Spurs. Cech refers to the fact that Arsenal were 3-1 up against Spurs the other night but let their lead slip which now sees Arsenal below Chelsea in third. He said:
"Arsenal had a big game against Tottenham, They were 3-1 up and threw it away. Now they are third for the first time in a long time so let's see how they cope with this new situation. They had plenty of chances this season to close the gap and haven't taken them yet.(Source)
We've been saying for a long time we want to keep winning and maintain the pressure on everybody. Arsenal have difficult games and United have to play us and Arsenal so there could possibly be six points [dropped by them].
They have to play a semi-final, so let's see how they cope. We have one competition to focus on which is to our advantage because we can prepare all week and get more rest.
We have two games at home against West Ham and Spurs to come and, if we win both, the situation could change again. Chelsea were one of the worst a few months ago and now we're getting back to normal.
Everything is close and it is important to score goals. We could end up with the same number of points, so goal difference will play a big part now."
The thing is, he is dead right. How many times have Arsenal had a chance to catch United or gain some sort of advantage and have slipped up or failed to take it. It's their own fault because once again Arsene Wenger has not invested in a top class Goalkeeper, Top Class central defenders and a 20 goal a season striker to play up alongside Robin Van Persie.
As for United, the next three games are massive. Everton at home Saturday, Arsenal away and then us at Old Trafford. They simply cannot afford to drop points but looked shaky the other night and still have Champions League football to play. I think looking at it, they have to play 5 games in 15 days culminating in our clash up there. Chelsea play just every 7/8 days now until the end of the season.
As Cech says though, we have to win our next two home games to have any chance.
