Blue is the colour, and blogging is the game. On 10th March 2011 five devoted Chelsea fans launched a new website to share their love for CFC. The idea of a football fan site is not new, but Miss SW6 is a bit different from the rest; it’s run entirely by women.
Co-founders Danielle, Annely, Amanda, Jaymee and Liz spent much of the last year discussing football online and bonding over their mutual support for Chelsea. Thought they hail from different parts of the world, have varying opinions and came to support the blues in different ways, they discovered a common desire: to be a voice for female Chelsea supporters and encourage more women to watch football. In February they began envisioning how they could take those ideas to the next level, and Miss SW6 was born.
While its main focus to provide uniquely female perspectives on the latest club news, the site also includes commentary on the players, “Chelsea basics” for those who are just starting to follow football and a photo gallery featuring Chelsea girls from across the globe.
Though touted as “the online home for female Chelsea supporters” the girls encourage the lads to check out Miss SW6 too, and it seems they’re attracting a large following. Despite doing no promotion before the launch date and no formal advertising, the site has already attracted hundreds of hits and Miss SW6 had 300+ followers on Twitter in 24 hours.
Check out www.miss-sw6.com for clever opinions on everything related to Chelsea Football Club. You can also connect with the “misses” on Twitter @MissSW6 and Facebook.com/MissSW6.
