Chelsea linked to Mascherano....

For some reason over the weekend, Chelsea have been linked with Javier Mascherano of Barcelona. The Argentine signed for Barcelona this season before the transfer window closed in August and has struggled to force his way into the Catalan side's first team ahead of Busquets, Iniesta and Xavi. As a result rumours have appeared stating the player has become frustrated at a lack of first team opportunities and has been linked with a £18m return to the Premier League.

For me I can see the benefit of Chelsea looking at the player as we need someone of his quality in the holding role. He is a right pain in the arse of opposition players but you cannot argue against his work rate, especially in his time at Liverpool.

I do believe that it's too soon for the player to be looking at life away from Barcelona however as it could just be the players agent sowing a seed in the media in order for the player to be selected in more games between now and the end of the season.

I wouldn't hold any hope of Chelsea making a move for Mascherano!.
