In just under two hours, Chelsea take on Blackpool in our next Premier League encounter and after the weekend's results going Chelsea's way, we simply have to capitalise starting tonight with another good performance and another win. Carlo Ancelotti has spoken ahead of the game tonight and Petr Cech is talking of aiming for the title but it's no good thinking of anything else but making sure we get the job done against Ian Holloway's side.
Blackpool have been a revelation in the Premier League and you have to admit that at some stage in the season you have applauded their performances. In Ian Holloway they have a boss who loves his football, has a passion and hunger for the game and has proven to be one of the best managers of men there is to achieve what he has there. Every single player plays for him and for each other. It's because of this and this alone that we cannot afford to take our opponents lightly.
Charlie Adam (one of the players of the season) and DJ Campbell are both missing due to suspension tonight and you could say it weakens their side.
No doubt Ian Holloway will have something up his sleeve and Chelsea have to be aware of Blackpool because whoever crosses that white line in a Blackpool shirt will give it their all and will look at attack and take the game to Chelsea.
For Chelsea, we are waiting on news of David Luiz, will he make it or won't he?. I predict he won't and we will see Jose Bosingwa start at right back with Ivavonic partnering JT in the middle. Ashley Cole will keep his place at right back.
For me if Carlo decides to keep the 4-4-2 formation, three of them pick themselves. Ramires, Essien and Lampard should get the nod and it will be a toss up between Malouda and Zhirkov to start on the left. My vote would go to Zhirkov to make a start.
I also predict (and I could be wrong) that Nico Anelka will drop to the bench and make way for Didier Drogba to partner Fernando Torres up front. Anelka was fantastic against Copenhagen but was never in the game against United. Drogba, after being rested for a couple of games, will be well up for the game tonight and had much more of an impact against United when he came on.
So to confirm, my first eleven for tonight is (4-4-2):
Cech, Bosingwa, Ivanovic, Terry (C), Cole, Ramires, Essien, Lampard, Zhirkov, Torres and Drogba.
Subs: Turnbull, Ferreira, Bertrand, McEachran, Malouda, Kalou and Anelka
We have been wondering about a partnership between Torres and one other, either Anelka or Drogba. Anelka and Torres played well together in Copenhagen and you can imagine Drogba would be itching to get out there and form a better one with Torres. We are all wondering when Torres will finally hit the back of the net and get on a scoring run for the club.
Tonight if Chelsea play well, dominate the ball at a high tempo and move the ball forward quickly, we could see both!.
Chelsea to win this one easily tonight (no disrespect to Blackpool) 4-0 with Torres and Drogba on the score sheet!.
