Yossi Benayoun is almost there as far as making his return to first team action. After injuring his Achilles, Benayoun has fought back from surgery to light training this week and has targeted our game away at Stoke next month for his return to action.
He said:
"I'm feeling really good and progressing well. I hope to return to full training with Chelsea within a week or two. My hope is to be match fit towards the end of the month.
It wasn't easy to be given the verdict about the injury. But the moment I'd undergone the operation and the surgeon told me about other players who had fully recovered from the same injury and returned to play, I began to feel calmer.
I really believe in myself now and I've been running for quite a few weeks, sometimes with the ball."
I know I have gone on record on here before about Benayoun and I no I am not exactly his biggest fan, but the addition to Benayoun to the squad is good for the club. We are going to need every single player between now and the end of the season as we aim to kick on and fight to finish as high as possible in the Premier League and to win the Champions League.
Compared to a couple of months ago, our squad looks so much better and stronger and that could be key in the coming months.
