It was hard on Torres last week. Training with your team mates for 3 days before being thrown in against Liverpool maybe thinking back was a big big ask, especially after the player himself admitted to seeing all the rubbish that the Liverpool fans were saying and had been doing (burning the shirt).
If I am honest, like I had said in my match preview, I wondered if Carlo would hand him a start or stick with the same side that beat Sunderland earlier that week. We all know he started and didn't really have a lot to do or any real service to influence the game.
In the days that followed we all saw the crap being written in the press and the stick he had to take about his debut. Tonight for me is the first real chance for us to see Torres. Forget the Liverpool game, the focus is tonight against Fulham. Once again he has been asked about his move and is keen to repay the faith that Chelsea and Abramovich in particular have put in him. He said:
'As a striker I'm asked for goals so I'll pay in goals, I still haven't seen Roman Abramovich. To put so much money down for me speaks of his dreams to keep on making history. We want to repay him for this effort. I have to pay my debt on the pitch. It's beautiful he paid so much for me.'(Source: Telegraph)
There's a saying in football:
Form is temporary, class is permanent!.Like the rest of you, I am looking forward to seeing Torres score goals for Chelsea as we all know he will. Let's hope he can get on the score sheet tonight!
