John Terry has spoken of Chelsea's new signings and the buzz it has brought to the club. In an article featured in the Mirror Terry said:
“There is a buzz around the camp and it is great from a club perspective that we are in the market again with two massive signings. It lets everybody know we are in the market again, and buying again, and competing with the likes of City, who have been spending an awful lot of money. To go out and sign players like Torres and Luiz was a huge statement for the club.Great interview again from JT as he talks openly of the excitement and buzz around the club that we are all feeling at the moment. It's also great to hear that he and the players have seen and heard what people have been saying about the age of our squad and the fact that they don't fear us anymore and have used that to fire themselves up for three Premier League wins in a row against Blackburn, Bolton and Sunderland scoring 10 goals.
I would still say teams who don’t fear us do so at their peril. People were texting us on Monday night at the hotel in Sunderland, saying: 'Chelsea are back.' After reading things like the Bolton quotes that ‘we don’t fear Chelsea any more’ and things like that, as we said... don’t fear us at your peril.
Have Chelsea got the best strike-force in the league? You don’t win the double without your strikers scoring goals and we shouldn’t forget what Didier Drogba and Nicolas Anelka have done over the last three or four years for this club, which means we have been doing that. They still have a huge part to play and will be among the most feared strike-force in Europe.
No one is getting too carried away, but there is a spring in our step, everyone is up-beat and there is a boost around the football club. This is a massive time for us.”
I also applaud JT in taking time out to speak highly of Drogba and Anelka who could so easily be overlooked in all the Torres mania that has hit Chelsea. They do still have an important part to play and it will give these two a morale boost to hear the skipper speak of them too.
Finally again, sensible words from JT, he doesn't deny that everyone is upbeat and has a spring in their step but also sends a message to the rest of the players that it's important that we do not get carried away and still take each game as it comes starting Sunday against Liverpool.
Roll on Sunday!. I can't wait!.
