This morning we are all waking up to "reports" that Carlo Ancelotti has warned John Terry that he is no longer guaranteed a first team place at Chelsea. Now of course it's a story that is going to grab headlines and get people's attention, but it isn't exactly the message that Carlo has put across now is it!.
What Carlo actually said was:
"With David Luiz we can have more rotation with our players, In the back four now we have a lot of opportunity to choose a player to give someone a rest and to maintain every player fit for the rest of the season."(Source:Guardian)
So he isn't saying that he is dropped or facing being dropped, he isn't suggesting that JT is no longer guaranteed first team football. He is just saying that we now have the option to give players a rest during the remainder of the season. With the injuries we have had, and had to face it has literally been the case at the club that if you are fit you play and our lack of numbers has cost us in so many games this season.
With Luiz now at the club and being two footed, it gives Carlo a chance to play him anywhere across the back four, so even Ashley Cole could be rested not just JT.
What we are also hearing is a rumour that Didier Drogba has been told the same with the arrival of Fernando Torres at the club. I do find it hard to believe because let's be honest here, if you had the chance to make the Drogba - Torres front line work, then you would do your best to make it work and this is what I believe Carlo is doing.
Everyone has an opinion on Chelsea at the moment and also of our manager. So I am just wondering how the rest of you feel about the fact that we now have much stronger competition for places in the side.
Would you drop JT or Drogba? Would you rotate players and how often would you?. The most important thing to remember is consistency. Chelsea need to get consistency back and get on a run of winning games so we can't afford to constantly chop and change players each week, or can we?.
What do you guys think?:
To rotate or not?KTBFFH
