Didier Drogba is featured in The Guardian today talking about the defeat to Liverpool, the mood at the club, our title hopes and also Fernando Torres. He has said:
"I am finding this bad spell hard to live with – and I am not the only one, The whole squad is suffering because you have to remember that no one at Chelsea is accustomed to losing so many matches.I am glad that there was a bad mood around the place after the defeat to Liverpool. As I said afterwards in my report, if the players had played the way that they and we know they can and we lost then fair enough. It was the fact that we offered very little and showed very little of "our football" that Carlo calls it, that annoyed me the most.
Carlo Ancelotti has not been happy with us in recent weeks and all the injuries, the poor results and the lack of goals have created a bad mood around the place. For my own part, my performances this season have suffered because of injuries and because of the malaria I contracted at the end of last year.
We had won our previous three Premier League games – against Blackburn, Bolton and Sunderland – and we were beginning to see a light at the end of the tunnel. But the defeat by Liverpool has cut our legs away and seriously damaged our chances of winning the title again. It is going to be difficult for us to catch up with Manchester United now.
Fernando is such a talented player and he will be very important for our team, It was difficult for him emotionally to be playing his first game against his former team-mates. But his arrival means we have a lot of competition for places in attack and that can only be good for Chelsea because that factor has helped us win many trophies over the last few years."
I think all of us Chelsea fans are looking at United being 10 points clear and in the back of our minds think that a push for the title maybe unrealistic, but in our hearts we want them to pull themselves together and go on a run we all know they are capable of.
You never know, International week this week may give the players the change of atmosphere (being away) that they need so they can come back to the club tomorrow re-focused to begin their preparations to what is now a huge game against Fulham on Monday night!.
