Could it be the kick up the arse the players needed?.

Certain players in the Chelsea squad will wake up this morning and realise they have no choice but to raise their game from now until the end of the season. I think it's fair to say because of our lack of squad depth certain players had realised that they will be starting games each week as there wasn't any real threat to their place in the side.

I know we look like we have turned the corner in the League (putting the disappointing performance against Everton on Saturday to one side!) but there are still certain players who maybe, just maybe thought they still had it easy.

The signing of David Luiz will provide Carlo will options once more at the back rather than being forced to play Ivanovic next to Terry but it's the signing of Torres that provides us with the most questions.

Let's be honest here, Malouda, Drogba and Anelka haven't been producing the goals we expect and the signing of Torres will give those three the biggest kick up the arse they would ever need.

Let's hope these two signings inspire the players, remind them that they have to fight for their place in the side and make them work harder in games. I just wonder if we will start to see a different tonight?.
