Mick McCarthy spoke ahead of the game tonight and of Chelsea. He said:
"Everyone will be tipping Chelsea to turn their season around, and that suits me fine. Chelsea should beat Wolverhampton Wanderers. Surely that is a fact of the league. I'm not suggesting for one minute that they will, and if that heaps a little bit more on them, then happy days. Let's keep heaping pressure in their direction. We're bottom of the league. We can only do damage to them. You have to say it's good stuff from the big man. He wears his heart on his sleeve and tells it exactly how it is. Being an outsider and looking at Wolves, ok they may struggle at times but you cannot underestimate what he has achieved there.
I detected when we lost to Wigan it was: 'It's Liverpool next, poor old Wolves, Torres and Gerrard will be playing.' But they had their strongest team out and we slapped them. I think anyone underestimates us at their peril. We beat Man City here, we should have got something at Old Trafford, we beat Liverpool, we should have won at Everton and for 75 minutes we were great at Tottenham. So I don't subscribe to the fact that the so-called better teams just come and turn you over.
Quite clearly they're not as invincible as they were. But they have the potential to be, Ivanovic was missing and he's back, Lampard and Essien have been missing a lot, Drogba has had malaria. And they're no different to anyone else just because they're top players. They don't just come back and turn it on straight away.
I would think that Carlo Ancelotti's looking at this game as one that they should win, if they are in any sort of crisis to change that and get an away victory, I don't think, in the same breath, they'll be thinking it will be easy. I doubt anybody is coming here tomorrow night thinking this is going to be a breeze because we're bottom of the league. Nobody's had it that way, and Chelsea won't have it that way tomorrow.
But I know what people will think - everybody's expecting Chelsea to get better, saying 'They can't keep doing that, they can't keep getting beaten and they can't keep playing as badly as that'. So I think everybody will see this as the game that's going to turn it around for them.
I don't particularly see it that way, it might be that for us it's four wins out of seven rather than three out of six."
No one expected them to beat Liverpool the other day and as he says they have had some good results this season. Think back to when we beat them at the Bridge 2-0 earlier in the season, it was a hard game and Wolves played well.
Chelsea will need to play well tonight to earn the right result as you can bet your life Wolves will be up and at it from the off tonight.
