I was reading this fantastic article today in the Guardian about young Josh McEachran and I have to say it has more than got me thinking if young Josh is ready to start week in week out now. The article quotes Ray Wilkins speaking of Josh and the time he first saw him playing at the age of 15 in a tournament at Cobham. Wilkins said:
"This spindly little kid got on the ball and had a little shimmy and stuck the ball inside the full-back. I turned to Neil and said, 'My God, it's Liam Brady!' I couldn't have paid him a bigger compliment. He's got that range of passing and he can play it early. He doesn't need time on the ball because he's seen the picture before. And he's come on in leaps and bounds. Against Marseille I thought he had a terrific game – particularly for one so young in a wonderful footballing arena."Like I said it has got me thinking. Just how good is Josh and is he ready to start a Premier League game. No one can deny he has fantastic passing ability and something we have, at times been missing.
The obvious midfield three at the moment is Essien holding, Ramires and Lampard. Ramires has been great I have to say, at times still has his dodgy moments but overall is getting better and better.
To play Essien in the holding role takes part of his game away in my opinion and of late he is diving in and making silly, needless tackles.
So I am asking you all the question, bearing in mind it would mean Essien pushed up next to Lampard:
Would you start Josh in the Premier League now?
