We all have had an opinion lately about who should and shouldn't be playing, who's been under performing etc. So I am asking you the Chelsea fans to take a look at my selection and give your views on the side you would pick and believe needs to start the game on Sunday.
Now before we consider our options we need to be aware that Ipswich have just sacked Roy Keane and have injury problems. Whether or not the Keane sacking will have an affect on their side in a positive or negative way is yet to be seen, but we do have to bear this in mind before we make our decision.
Another thing to consider would be how, putting yourselves in Carlo's shoes, you approach the game. What I mean is, bearing in mind we are lacking confidence all over the pitch do we decide to give the first team another run with a chance to win the game well and gain some form of confidence back?.
Or, do we decide that they haven't been doing it for a few weeks now and we are sick and tired of watching the same players under perform week in, week out and we go for the youngsters and make a whole host of changes?.
Yesterday some of you made comments on what or who you felt was to blame for our slump (Thank you) and the overall opinion is that changes need to be made and some established players need to be dropped.
We also have to consider that Ipswich are no mugs either. They will come to the Bridge with something to prove but nothing to lose. They will have the mindset that people will expect them to get walloped at here especially as they haven't got a manager now and will play for themselves and for the fans and will put up as much of a fight they can give to make it a contest, so we cannot take the game for granted.
So bearing all this, my opinion and selection for the team to take to the pitch should be:
Turnbull ( Give the bloke a game and Cech a rest)
Ivanovic (Solid and adds experience to the back four)
Bruma (Deserves another start)
Terry (C) (Again, experience and will lead the side)
Van Aanholt (Give Cole a rest and let's see more of this kid)
McEachran (Playmaker in Midfield, he deserves a start)
Essien (Strength in midfield, needs games)
Lampard (Another game to help get him up to speed, to encourage the kids)
Kakuta (Will be a box of tricks on the wing - makes a change!)
Sturridge (Play him through the middle after he did this yesterday)
Kalou. (Will run at players, using the game to rebuild confidence).
Subs:
Hilario
Cole
Bosingwa
Ramires
Malouda
Anelka
Drogba.
I have explained why I have picked the players I have. For me it freshens the side up, mixes it up a bit and it's the perfect blend of Experience and the youngsters.
JT and Ivanovic will help Bruma and Van Aanholt. Lampard and Essien will talk all game to young Josh and Kakuta has a chance to shine, Kalou to get confidence back and Sturridge has a chance through the middle to show his pace and finishing instincts rather than being stuck out wide right.
Now I am not saying it's right, and I could be wrong but this is the team I would pick to start the game.
Do you agree with mine?. If not, what would your team be ?
