Benfica fly to London after plan backfires?

With the news of Chelsea making a bid that has reportedly been accepted for Simon Kjaer it seems that Benfica have possibly realised that they have talked themselves out of a deal with Chelsea. SkySports.com has run an article today to state that "Benfica president Luis Filipe Vieira flew to London in the company of agent Giuliano Bertolucci to hold talks with Chelsea over a potential move".

I have posted on my blog enough times about Luiz including a video of the player I found on YouTube because I don't know about the rest of you, but I was aware of the player but didn't really know of him. The Video showcased the qualities the player has so you can understand why Chelsea have been interested in him. However, it's Benfica insisting that Chelsea pay well over the odds and refusing to budge on any other negotiation that has stalled the deal.

The news today is interesting especially if Chelsea have had a bid for Kjaer accepted. Have Benfica realised that the days of forcing Chelsea to pay well over the odds for players is now over and they have a choice to make. Cash in now for a realistic fee considering they have just signed Jardel as a replacement or have they blown it completely?.

I think it's safe to say that Chelsea are interested and Luiz IS the preferred option. I just wonder if in the next few hours we have confirmation a deal has been agreed between us and Benfica for somewhere in the region of around £18m will additional fee's to be paid at a later date.

Let's hope we hear at least something soon as like the rest of you I am sitting here waiting for any kind of news on what the club has decided to do to rekindle our title charge and Champions League quest this season!.
