It comes as no surprise that Sir Alex Ferguson has started the mind games already ahead of Sunday's game by digging the knife in about our poor form in recent weeks.
Fergie is quoted as saying the following:
"Ballack's contract came to an end. Belletti's contract came to an end. They have been replacing these players with younger ones such as [Danny] Sturridge and the young boy [Josh] McEachran. So maybe that's why their results have been erratic. Their plan was always to start introducing younger players and I think that's a good thing but it can backfire if you get injuries.(Source: The Guardian)
You need big squads these days because the number of matches and the intensity of matches does produce injuries. There's no question that having a big squad helps.
We've got good players and they have all had big-game experience for years now. It's not as if it is new to them. Their experience is very important and the desire is still there with this club. All our players have good desire to win matches.
We used to have a terrific record at Chelsea . We haven't won there for eight years (check)correct .. but it's a big game for us and we'll be ready for it. We couldn't get there sooner."
First of all why don't you point out something we don't know!. It's not as if we aren't aware of that already. As for their big game experience where was that last season when we beat you twice!?
As for the fact that United couldn't get there sooner, well that's the thing about football. When you are in a bad run you are desperate for games to come thick and fast to turn things round. It started in the second half on Sunday and will carry on this weekend.
If I was Sir Alex Ferguson, I would be very wary of the wounded animal at Stamford Bridge this week. If there is one game that will lift the players, give them the motivation they need and a game to make a statement to the football public expecting us to fail, it's this one.
You can harp on about being unbeaten so far this season and give it all your bollocks about your history all the time and still moaning about last season. Come Sunday, come Stamford Bridge and commeth the hour, it might just be time to wonder what it would be like to go NINE YEARS without winning at the Bridge, the home of CHAMPIONS!
CAREFREE & KTBFFH!
