Carlo on Marseille.

Carlo Ancelotti last night gave a press conference ahead of tonight's game against Marseille at the Velodrome and he said the following:

"While we want to win, the result is not the most important thing. What is is the performance to raise confidence levels.

It is important for us to believe that the season is still going to be a good one for us. We all know we have lost a lot of points in the last few games but, even so, we are still very close to the top of the table in the Premier League. As far as the Champions League goes, we have won our group and we will have to look where we are in February. There is still time to do everything we want this season.

I spoke to the players and what was said will remain private and confidential, but we shouldn't just think about what has gone wrong. We have to stay in focus, to look at where there were mistakes in our performances and try to resolve them. I really believe we will be able to come back and play our proper football again. This is the first thing.

For Didier it will be a particularly emotional to play here in Marseille, I can't recall any other player who's held in such regard at a club where he only played for a year. Didier is starting to have that good condition back again. But we all have to improve our concentration and stay focused on the little details. We were playing well and everything was okay for us, then we went into a poor moment very quickly. I think it can happen the other way too, that we can recover just as quickly.

We are trying to search the right way to move on quickly from this moment and we have a possibility to do this on Wednesday.

We want to put out the best line-up possible because we consider the game important for our confidence and to come back and play our football. When I say strong team, it doesn't mean there are no young players in the team. Maybe some of them will be involved. We give a lot of importance to this game for the reason that we need to come back to play our football."

The game is definately a chance for the boys to get some of their confidence back ahead of Spurs at the weekend. It will be interesting to see what team Carlo decides to go with as forget what you will read about the result not being important. Imagine another defeat!.. No thanks!.
