On this week’s show Chidge is joined by the Chelsea FanCast regulars and the ‘Yanks’ to chew over a very bad tasting defeat to Sunderland. All this plus the usual match day awards, more classic terrace songs, a debate on ‘bad news week’ and ‘Dear Mart’!
The boys agree that to the 3-0 defeat to Sunderland was the worst Chelsea performance for quite a while, but who to blame? Putting Paulo in at centre back instead of Bruma? Sacking Ray Wilkins? Was it Dr Mart and Ross for watching the Rugby instead of being at the game? Or was it the Yanks proving to be an unlucky charm on their visit to the real home of football? All will be revealed on the show. But, clearly not being ‘at it’, not creating service for the front three and missing JT, Super Frankie and Essien didn’t help.
After the post-match navel gazing, the boys dish out the weekly awards for Man of the Match; Chant of the Match; Celery and Guinness moments, as well as announcing the winner of our October Goal and Player of the month.
Unfortunately, a mass walk out by about 50% of the Chelsea faithful with 10 minutes to go marred a stoic show of unity and volume from the ‘Loyal Supporters’. Fortunately, the Chelsea FanCast regulars are joined by some True Blue Yank supporters who travelled thousands of miles and spent a lot of money (not least in buying us beer all week!) in making a rare trip to see the Boys in Blue in a match. They were just happy to be there and soak up the atmosphere, even though we lost. Whether they were happy to be part of a particularly mental podcast, we’ll leave you to judge!
They certainly enjoyed the songs in “We’re out to show the World the way to sing!” with a couple of rarely heard and newish songs celebrating the much missed Frankie Lampard, and the much lamented Chelsea ‘Loyal’ support.
All this plus a vigorous debate on the dismissing of Chelsea legend Ray Wilkins (we’re really not happy), the rumour of a move to Earl’s Court (we’re not happy) and the prolonged absence and future of Super Frankie (we’re very worried).
And if that wasn’t enough we have a particularly therapeutic “Dear Mart” to settle your Chelsea angst and a collective read out of the best posts of the week in “You’re on CFFC”
