Sitting five points behind Chelsea and with the Wayne Rooney saga behind him, Sir Alex Ferguson has stated that United will not be signing any players in the January transfer window. He said:
"We won't be buying in January, definitely not. If you want someone to play in Europe, you are limited right away. There are hundreds of players cup-tied. You have five to six months left of the season,".I did find this interesting as Rooney stated that he wanted assurances from the club that there are plans to develop the squad in the future.
With Rooney missing at the moment, Ferdinand deciding whether or not he wants to be declared fit from week to week and Valencia out till February it comes as a surprise that he doesn't plan on bringing anyone in bearing in mind they are five points behind us already.
I may be jumping the gun here but I get the impression that Chelsea have just begun to tighten their grip on the title. Even now in the title race United can't afford any slip ups!.
Its looking bright for the blue boys!
KTBFFH.
I think he's looking at the big picture long term. You can't buy a new player every time you get an injury. Valencia is out but like you say he's probably back in Feb so can't see any sense in buying a new right midfielder.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure we will see new players coming in and some players moving on but it's more likely to happen next summer. Saying that he likes to be unpredictable so wouldn't be shocked if a big player was signed in Jan.
I see you as clear favourites in the PL title race this year but also think we are looking good for the coming seasons as we are clearly building for the future.
Gd luck.
