There are rumours rife that Benfica are planning to make a swoop for ever reliable Paulo Ferreira as early as January as they plan to bolster their squad in order to make a realistic challenge for the Portugese title.
It is believed that this season could be Paulo's last at the Bridge with the likes of Bosingwa returning from injury and Ivanovic a natural replacement once Alex rejoins JT at the heart of our defence.
I have to say Paulo's service to the club has been fantastic and I will never for the life of me understand why Jose decided to drop him from the back-to-back title winning side. Ever since then Paulo has never been a first team regular.
I really like Ferreria and 99% of the time, whenever called upon, always has a steady game. I don't really think we could ever deny Paulo the chance to go back home to Portugal.
I just wonder if it would be as early as January?

In my eyes Ferreria will always be a true Chelsea player! he always gives his all! He'll be missed!
ReplyDeleteI am so happy that other True Blues appreciate Paulo. He is an inspiration too many (hope you read this Rooney) as to how a true professional footballer should behave on and off the field, he is a real Mr Reliable. I often write in another blog where Paulo doesn't seem to be appreciated at all and I can't really figure out why most people there don't like him
ReplyDeleteReally agree with you guys. Hes been so reliable, doesn't moan or complain, plays when hes asked and never see any off field activities in the press! a really good ambassador for Chelsea FC. gotta agree hes gonna be missed! :o(
ReplyDeletewell, i have to say that Paolo has been a tremendous squad player over the last few seasons; without him, the Blues would have been lacking when injuries hit Bosingwa, Ivanovic and Essien (who used to take the RB spot now and again). I will definitely miss him if he leaves. To me, he'll always been a True Blue. Up The Chels!
ReplyDeleteBenfica can bid whenever and whatever they like. Chelsea won't release him before there's any certainty about Bosingwa's condition, of which there's currently none. Paulo also stated in a recent interview that he now considers England his home. He won't leave before his contract is up.
ReplyDeleteGullibility is always a problem with blogs who insist on posting every day, instead of only when there's genuine news.
NO chance, we didn't give him a 4 year contract for nothing.
ReplyDeleteCarlo trusts he's done a magnificent job whenever he's called upon, except for a few blips. Excellent backup player, we don't have any youth player coming up on that right side, so we definitely need him. Bruma's not a RB, so don't point him out to me!
I have heard that Alves is linked to us and if that is true then i won't mind sending Paolo back home. Paolo had done a magnificent job at Chelsea and he had never raised a single voice even when he was deprived of matches for long. He had been so modest and selfless that he kept quite on the bench but did great job when called upon. Yes we have Bosingwa and Ivanovic but until we buy a right back or a centre back, i would not like to see Paolo's back!
ReplyDeleteIf he goes its sad but I think we need to give our younger players a chance. We lose them if we dont.
