Chelsea Chairman Bruce Buck has spoken of being cautiously supportive of the introduction of a wage cap at Chelsea. With UEFA implementing Financial Fair Play rules from the 2013-14 season, Buck says that Chelsea would support the ruling provided it was implemented the world over. He said:
"We would seriously consider a wage cap. It has to be properly implemented, I'm not even sure that Europe-wide is enough. Look what happened with cricket and the IPL (Indian Premier League): the best players are going to go where they can make the most money. We have many of the best players in England and we do not want to see them go elsewhere."I have to agree with Buck. The fact that the English clubs have done so well recently in the Champions League for example and the Europa League is because of the TV money and revenue's that each club can earn, aswell as investment from wealthy owners of course.
So imagine what would happen if the Salary Cap was not World Wide and the likes of Spain and Italy were free to spend the money they have in the past on players, the player would want to move where the money is. Do you think our game would be where it is at today if there was no money or a Salary Cap?
What do you think? Salary Cap or continue as we are?

I definitely think that a global salary cap would be a good thing. Keeping wages to a sensible proportion of turnover. It could help with the impending financial fair play rules. Here's an intersting look at last seasons Premier League teams: http://extras.timesonline.co.uk/pdfs/moneygame.pdf
ReplyDeleteI think if salary cap will be global it is perfect, but if we are talking just about England it is death for CL and other Europa tournaments !!!
