I was reading this article on the Soccerlens website. They are running what they believe to be Chelsea's worst signings since Roman took over the club and I am not sure I agree with them.
They have listed the 10 worst or disappointing players to be:
Neil Sullivan
Asier Del Horno
Steve Sidwell/Claudio Pizzaro/Tal Ben Haim
Glen Johnson
Deco
Mateja Kezman
Juan Sebastien Veron
Adrian Mutu
Shawn Wright-Phillips
Andriy Shevchenko.
I would argue that the following players should be considered:
Jiri Jarosik
Khalid Boulahrouz
Franco Di Santo
Nuno Morais
Lassana Diarra
Ross Turnbull.
What do you guys think? Who were the worst or most disappointing signings so far of the Roman Abramovich reign?
KTBFFH.
I agree with your list although i dont think Turnbull has been given enough match time to really show what he can do, he's young and needs to progress, i think if we give him time and with cech's advice and mentoring i, personally, think he has the potential to be very a good goalkeeper
ReplyDeleteFranco Di Santo was never given much time. Lassana Diarra was a great signing and given more time could have been really good, he was still learning. And you don't end up at Real Madrid if you haven't got it. Forgot about Neil Sullivan...oh dear! What about Chris Sutton! Hardly prolific. Or George Weah! He was a great footballer but not for us!
ReplyDeleteAnon 11:12 - It clearly states since Roman took over!!! Weah and Sutton were way b4 2003.
ReplyDeleteLook on the bright side you never signed Senderos
Mario Stanic could have made way earlier than 2004 but hey, he wasn't a Roman recruit...
