The Chelsea Daily Drivel - A bloggers take on the Chelsea news is a daily update of all the stories concerning our club, the rumours, the opinions and more....
So here are the Chelsea news updates on Friday 1st October 2010 including: Carlo will be back for the Arsenal game after his father's death, Kakuta isn't feeling any pressure, Inter chasing Essien, Benayoun granted permission to see the "Placenta Doctor", Didier Drogba and Kalou omitted from the Ivory Coast squad and Chelsea "watching" Mexes.
First today and following on from the news that Carlo Ancelotti's father passed away on Wednesday night, the club had confirmed that the funeral would be tomorrow and Carlo will be there on the bench on Sunday for the Arsenal game. It's been confirmed that Ray Wilkins will take today's press conference later today.
CD:I have to say I am slightly shocked that Carlo has decided to be there on Sunday after such a devastating time for him and his family. With the funeral being on Saturday, maybe it's Carlo's way of dealing with the situation and trying to return to normality as soon as possible afterwards is Carlo's way. All I will say is that we are right behind him. Show your support for Carlo on Sunday people.
Now to Gael Kakuta who was the subject of interest from Bayern Munich as reported in yesterday's Daily Drivel. With being much more involved in first team football this season already, he was asked about it and said:
CD:For me, Kakuta plays exactly like that. When he has come into the side he has always just tried to play his football and you can tell he is encouraged to do so by Carlo and the other players. What strikes me about him is the belief he has in himself and he isn't scared of showing exactly what he can do. At one stage the other night he looked up and played a 40 yard ball from right to left straight onto the foot of Cole or Anelka, I can't remember. What young players just coming into the side do you see doing things like that?.
As per my Drivel yesterday, we need to get him signed up asap!.
Now, according to the Italian press, Inter Milan have set their sights on Michael Essien!. It's being reported that new manager Benitez wants Xabi Alonso to link up with him in Milan and if any approach he makes is turned down they will turn their attentions to Essien.

CD:I am not even going to bother with this one. It's just not happening!.
Moving on quickly and to Yossi Benayoun. Benayoun as we all know, tore his calf muscle against Newcastle and believes that treatment from the "Placenta Doctor" in Isreal, who he has seen before at his time in Liverpool, can cut short his recovery time.
Marijana Kovacevic has also been paid a visit by Frank Lampard last November but after being there for an hour he left after deciding the treatment is not for him. The statement on the Chelsea website said:
CD:I think it's safe to say that the medical profession has made leaps and bounds in recent times when it comes to treating injuries. Chelsea wouldn't even entertain the idea if they felt there would be issues with it. Let's hope Benayoun can make a full recovery asap as our squad looks thin without him.
Now to the Ivory Coast and there latest squad announced for their African Cup of Nations qualifier against Burundi. Didier Drogba and Kalou have been left out with Kalou's ommission due to injury. It's not clear as to why Drogba has been left out this time but it is believed to be because the manager had the ump with Drogba after he made himself "unavailable" for the last game due to "mental and physical fatigue".

CD:I think I said back at the time of the last game and Drogba not being involved that it can only benefit Chelsea. Added to that now and he was rested against Newcastle and has missed two Champions League games due to suspension. If anything it's important that we keep Didi fresh as much as we can and by being left out for this squad will do us yet another favour.
Now finally today to a rumour that has been doing the rounds all day yesterday and again today as the major press outlet's pickup on the story and that's Ancelotti's "reported" interest in Roma's french defender Philippe Mexes. Mexes is currently in the last year of his contract with Roma and Chelsea are believed to ready to pounce if no deal can be agreed.
Mexes had only started 17 games at Roma last season under our old boss Claudio Ranieri. However, this season his form has been so good even Laurent Blanc is considering him to replace Malouda as Captain of the national team.

CD:Like I said yesterday in the Drivel after we were linked with yet another defender, I can't see why we need anyone as we have more than enough cover with experienced players and good youngsters coming through. Could this be a ploy by the players agent to get an even better deal for his man from Roma?. I think so!.
Watch out for the build up to The Arse later today.
Carefree & KTBFFH everyone!

"I don’t feel pressure at all, I feel comfortable, The more people that watch us play the better I feel. Since I came back from the European Championship I have been playing a lot which is a good thing for me, and my fitness as well.(Source: Daily Mail)
It gives me confidence to see the team play, They have been doing well since the start of the season so it gives you more confidence to see it, and you can be a part of it in training. It gives you more motivation and makes you want to play more.
When you come in everyone helps you and talks to you and give you advice, so you can only be better when you come into the team. It is not like in some clubs where the first team players will try to break you and not let you get involved in the team.
Here it is something different, that’s why I really like it in this club. Everyone helps you, it doesn’t matter if you are young or not, they treat you like a normal player like them.
Here at Chelsea I look up to everyone, because you don’t know what position you can play, it is good to learn from everyone, the way they are and things like that."
CD:For me, Kakuta plays exactly like that. When he has come into the side he has always just tried to play his football and you can tell he is encouraged to do so by Carlo and the other players. Yossi has been treated there before and the club's medical team, familiar with the procedures and confident it would do Yossi no harm, agreed that it would not adversely impact the rehab work he was receiving from Chelsea staff at Cobham. He will be accompanied by a club doctor."
