The Chelsea Daily Drivel is a daily update of all the stories concerning our club, the rumours, the opinions and more....
So here are the Chelsea news updates on Sunday 5th September 2010 including: Danny Sturridge scores for England U21's & speaks of his "Bad-boy" image, Chelsea's cheeky bid for Robinho? and Drogba confirms he is to continue to play for the Ivory Coast.
First today to Danny Sturridge. England played Portugal in Portugal and Sturridge scored the only goal in the 1-0 win that puts Portugal out of the running and England to within two points of leaders Greece. You can check out Sturridge's goal here:
He took it well considering he is left footed. A great ball through to Sturridge for him to show his pace and take it well. Given the chance at Chelsea we hope to see more of the same this season!.
Staying with Sturridge and he has spoken of his "Bad-boy" image and has spoken of how hard he is working to try and change the opinion of others towards him. He said:
I like Sturridge, he looks as though he has got his head down and is working hard. If he continues to do the same then there is no question that he will force his way into Ancelotti's thinking over the coming seasons.
Now to a report this morning in the Sunday Mirror regarding Robinho who has since signed for AC Milan. The story that has appeared states that Chelsea made an enquiry to the availability of Robinho before the window shut and were told in no uncertain terms that City were not interested. ‘I have matured in the last year and realised what football is all about, Going to a big club shows you that it is not only about playing, it is about things off the park, too. I don’t go out trying to get drunk or anything like that. I don’t think about anything but kicking a ball and trying to get into the Chelsea team.I have to say it really is great to hear from Sturridge. It seems as though people have formed this opinion of him (especially City fans) but maybe looking back, City fans can see that Sturridge knew what was happening the football club and knew he would never have his chance.
The bad press I’ve had has made me think I just have to get my head down and not worry about the talk. It hurts to hear people saying that City let me go because I was big-headed and wanted the money. I left to win trophies and we won the Double last season.
I have no regrets at all.’

The story that has appeared states that Chelsea made an enquiry to the availability of Robinho before the window shut and were told in no uncertain terms that City were not interested. The article states a "Chelsea source" has said:
“We did make an initial enquiry about Robinho but for some reason City didn’t want to do business with us and thought the offer we tabled was unacceptable.”So very interesting indeed if this is true and not just speculation. It has always been obvious that Chelsea had been after Robinho so why not make their move when he left on loan to Santos. I know City's new transfer stance is to not sell or loan anyone who they consider as league position rivals but as we have heard, Everyone has their price!.
Now finally in todays Drivel, Didier Drogba has confirmed he is to continue to play for the Ivory Coast whenever called upon. He said:
"Each time they call me up, I'll be there,"Not sure on this one for Drogba. Would personally like Didier to do a Michael Essien and take a break from the International stage to just concentrate on Chelsea's assault on the Champions League this season in additional to retaining our title and FA Cup. In the Ivory Coast, Drogba is like a King over there and is very proud to represent his country so his decision comes as no surprise.
More tomorrow.
