So here are the Chelsea news updates on Tuesday 7th September 2010 including: A Carlo Ancelotti special today with plenty of quotes from our manager.
First this morning to Carlo Ancelotti's stance on Fabio Capello's decision to include Wayne Rooney for England tonight against Switzerland.
Ancelotti himself has had to deal with problems for his players away from the pitch and has spoken of both instances. He said:
"A coach has to look if this problem is involved on the training ground and if the players are able to maintain this problem outside of the training ground, This is personal behaviour that refers to the personal character of the people, if they can separate the things. A top player is able to do this. It is possible I think. It was a fantastic example by John Terry and Ashley Cole last season.
John Terry was able to keep his private problem outside of the training ground, and for that reason he remained captain of Chelsea.
Carlo also then spoke of Fabio Capello and the situation he now faces as the England Manager after a nightmare World Cup. He said:
'I have a lot of experience in Italy that if you win, you are a good guy and if you lose you are a poor guy. I was surprised because before the World Cup, Capello was a god and now [people say] he is not good enough to manage the national team.
I think that Capello is a fantastic coach and he is able to manage the national team and will show this in the future. He won a lot of titles in Italy and in Spain and he will do his best in England.
He was good before the World Cup and during the World Cup the England team didn't play good football but there was a lot of expectation and it can happen. They had a problem physically because their most important player for this competition which was [Wayne] Rooney was not fit 100 per cent.'
Carlo then spoke about his impression of our Press and Media and how it differs to in Italy. He said:
"The media are too intrusive but that is the culture of this country, This is not good for my culture. But there are good things here, there is a fantastic atmosphere around football, there is no violence and people come to watch games to enjoy [themselves], that is totally different from Italy.
I don't understand because there is so much interest in the [personal] life of the player. I know they have to show an image outside of the training ground but it's strange for me that there is this interest.
I'm not interested if a player goes to sleep at eight o'clock or 12 o'clock. I'm only interested if a player can do 100% when they are training. I didn't control, when I was in Italy, what happened outside the training ground.
Ancelotti was asked about his relationship with Jose Mourinho and has revealed that their relationship has improved ever since he came to Chelsea. He said of Jose:
“He was very kind when I won the Premier League, He sent me a message and our relationship is different [to the one in Milan], it is a good relationship. We met in Geneva last week, We had a good time together, now he is my friend.”
Finally today Carlo has spoken of JT and Frank Lampard ahead of Saturday's trip to Upton Park and has said:
'Lampard had surgery on Tuesday and I think that he will start to train this week. I don't know when but we will see how he trains and we will take a decision for the game against West Ham.
Terry didn't have surgery but he used the last week to improve his hamstring. He will start to train with the squad this week, maybe Tuesday, and I think he will be able to play against West Ham.'
