The Chelsea Daily Drivel is a daily update of all the stories concerning our club, the rumours, the opinions and more....
So here are the Chelsea news updates on Thursday 23rd September 2010 including: Benayoun and Kalou to miss City on Saturday, McEachran's interview today and video of his personal performance against Newcastle last night, Fergie tips Chelsea the two games against us as title deciders, Disney get rid of Chelsea in favour of City and Bruce Buck releases a statement to the Guardian!.
First tonight to news that Yossi Benayoun and Salomon Kalou are out of this weekend's trip to Eastlands to take on Manchester City. Both players suffered injuries in our game last night. Kalou came on as a half time substitute and had to then be subbed off himself and Benayoun had to leave the pitch shortly afterwards after we had already made three subs!.
Its being reported that Kalou's injury isn't as bad as Benayoun as Yossi looks to be ruled out for three weeks. Official confirmation is still to be announced from Chelsea but it doesn't look good for Benayoun. Kalou could be restricted to missing just Manchester City but like I said we are awaiting official confirmation.
I have to say after Josh McEachran's performance last night when he came on in the second half, he played better in those 30 or so minutes that Benayoun has since the season started so if I was Carlo I would have him on the bench for the next couple of games. The Arse have Wiltsire, we have McEachran!.
Here below is a video that has been uploaded to YouTube featuring his performance from the game last night. YOU MAY WANT TO TURN THE SOUND OFF (why do people always put bloody music on stuff like this!). This is not my video, I am just sharing it!. N-Joy!
Speaking of McEachran, he is featured on the official Chelsea website today in an interview. You can find the full article here. McEachran talks of the game last night and of his time at Chelsea. He said:
Now to Sir Alex Ferguson and when asked who are the main threat to United this season, and the games that could decide the destiny of the Premier League title, Ferguson stated Chelsea. He said:
Speaking of Manchester City it seems as though they are being favoured by Disney in the USA and will look to get a deal done with them after the contract they currently have with Chelsea expires!. As per the article in the Daily Mail today, the Disney Company who own ESPN is in negotiations with Garry Cook (ex-Chelsea) and see City as the future of the Premier League and not Chelsea!. A source close to the deal said:
To Chelsea's stance on tackling antisemitism. Chairman Bruce Buck has written to the Guardian and they have published his letter on their website. A letter that makes the clubs stance perfectly clear. It reads:
Look out on here for the early build up to my match preview for the City game tomorrow afternoon!.

"I was only a bit nervous, I was more just anxious to get on because it would be my home debut, Once I got on and got the ball I was fine. The manager told me the same as at Zilina, get on the ball as much as you can, keep the ball moving and just enjoy it.I think you will all agree, if he continues to develop the way he has so far then we have in my view the perfect replacement for Lamps when he decides to hang up his boots!.
It was a bit different to the Youth Cup Final because there were more people but you don't really notice they are there, you just get on with your game.
My first game away with the squad was at Blackburn in the Carling Cup and then at Everton away. It was just getting me used to being around the squad, I was in the stands both times, but it was still good being around the changing rooms because I was still only 16.
Pre-season was good for me, I got my chance to play, and then last week I went away to Slovakia. I didn't even know I was going to be on the bench and then I was and then I got on, so I did well there.
When I was young I was a lot smaller than the other lads and it took me quite a lot of time to develop so I was with my own age group, but as I got older I got taller and a bit stronger so I have been pushed up the ages.
I got to miss a lot of school when I was playing in the youth team as a schoolboy so that was good,It was a good experience, playing with the older players."
Now to Sir Alex Ferguson and when asked who are the main threat to United this season, and the games that could decide the destiny of the Premier League title, Ferguson stated Chelsea. He said:
“Chelsea are the champions. They've had a good start to the season and I look upon them as the main danger to us, The games that will matter will probably be the ones against each other. Last year we lost both of those games and therefore that decided the title."Er...no shit Sherlock! We are the force to be reckoned with, apart from yesterday we have had a blinding start to the season and come Saturday after we turn over the pretenders in Manchester City, Everyone will sit up and take notice!.
"It's about putting a footprint in the States, and it's a big footprint, and at the same time building a relationship with ESPN. Manchester City would become ESPN's exclusive Premier League partner in the US."No wonder "Soccer" isn't taking off at the rate expected in the USA and with choosing City ahead of Chelsea is a big mistake in my book. I guess the simple fact of the matter these days is that money talks and with City being the richest club in the world, of course the money men in the USA would want a piece of the cake.
To Chelsea's stance on tackling antisemitism. Chairman Bruce Buck has written to the Guardian and they have published his letter on their website. A letter that makes the clubs stance perfectly clear. It reads:
I believe your comments about Chelsea's position on antisemitism are factually incorrect and unfair (Chelsea fans question club's stance over antisemitism, 9 September).Fantastic from the club and our Chairman. Enough said.
As your reporter was informed, our club has a strong written policy against discrimination, including antisemitism. Our policy is promoted at the highest levels of our organisation and is included in the training for all match-day personnel.
Of course, having a policy is not enough. Actions speak louder than words. We regularly ban 15 to 20 people each season for violations of our anti-discrimination policy. Two months ago, a Chelsea supporter was charged and found guilty of a racially aggravated public order offence for using the antisemitic term that you claim we ignore.
We have frequently had campaigns in match-day magazines to inform fans of our policy and resultant punishment. We are about to launch a new programme entitled Building Bridges: Help us tackle discrimination at Stamford Bridge.
Your reporter describes two alleged incidents, one of which took place at the DW Stadium in Wigan and the other at Wembley Stadium. He fails to recognise that at both of those venues we have no control over the stewarding, the CCTV cameras, the police or who is and is not permitted to enter the stadium.
In each of these two incidents, we received a complaint from one individual (not a "group", as alleged by your reporter). Because these incidents were reported after the fact, it became very difficult to investigate. In one case, the person involved vehemently denied the allegations and there were no corroborating witnesses; in the other situation, the identity of the alleged offender could not be obtained.
Rest assured that, when we can, we will take the strongest possible action against anyone found using any kind of discriminatory chant or taunt. To suggest otherwise is unfair and does our club, and the overwhelming majority of our fans, a huge disservice.
Bruce M Buck
Chairman, Chelsea Football Club
Look out on here for the early build up to my match preview for the City game tomorrow afternoon!.
