The Chelsea Daily Drivel is a daily update of all the stories concerning our club, the rumours, the opinions and more....
So here are the Chelsea news updates on Wednesday 25th August 2010 including: Begovic reportedly goes on strike at Stoke & Pulis says "You won't join Chelsea!", Burdisso again linked but his agent wants a move to Roma, Big Bayern defender Martin Demichelis now linked to Chelsea, South Korean World Cup star Park Chu Young to sign for Chelsea?, Mancienne's bid turned down but to go out on loan and Ramires can't wait to start!
First to news on Stoke's Asmir Begovic who just yesterday claimed to be flattered to be linked with a club like Chelsea. Last night Stoke had a Carling Cup second round tie against Shrewsbury and Begovic refused to play. Maybe he had one eye on being cup-tied if he was to link up with us and wanted the chance to be involved for Chelsea if he was to sign.
His refusal and reported strike has not gone down well with under-rated (in my opinion) manager Tony Pulis who said after the game:
Now to more on Nicolas Burdisso. Over the last few weeks his name has been mentioned and its reported over and over again that Chelsea are keen. Even today, The Mirror is reporting that Chelsea are plotting a shock move for the player and Inter Technical Director Marca Branca may be willing to listen to any offers for their player.
ESPN have a different take on this story however. They are reporting that the players agent Fernando Hidalgo has dismissed any possible move to Chelsea by saying:
Following on from the story above about Burdisso and especially Carlo's comments about not needed another defender its surprising this morning to also read that the agent of Bayern Munich's Argentinian defender Martin Demichelis claims that Chelsea are interested in signing him!
His agent Jorge Cyterszpiler has claimed:
Very strange if you ask me on this one. Possibly the agent is looking for a better deal for him and his player and is using Chelsea as leverage. I wouldn't take any notice of this one Chelsea fans.
Another rumour that has appeared out of the blue yesterday was Chelsea's reported interest in Monaco's South Korean World Cup star Park Chu Young. Now according to the report published on Breakingfootballnews.com:
One thing for the player, it will be hard to establish himself in the first team and should Chelsea make the signing would they find themselves under pressure to include the player more than they would want to? More to follow on this one!
Now to a current Chelsea player and that's Michael Mancienne. Its being reported today in the Daily Mail that Wolves have had a bid of £3m turned down by Chelsea as they value him at around £5m.
Chelsea will not budge from the valuation of the player and have more or less told Wolves that's the sum they require if they want to sign him permanently. As a result it is reported and not yet confirmed by Chelsea that Mancienne will head back to Wolves for another season long loan as a permanent deal could not be agreed. Look out for confirmation of the loan deal shortly.
Finally today to our new man Ramires. He has spoken of how much he cannot wait to play for Chelsea and it could be as early as against Stoke on Saturday!. He said:
Let's hope that Ramires get's his chance to play asap and shows us all exactly why Chelsea spent big this summer!

Maybe he had one eye on being cup-tied if he was to link up with us and wanted the chance to be involved for Chelsea if he was to sign.
His refusal and reported strike has not gone down well with under-rated (in my opinion) manager Tony Pulis who said after the game:
"He said he did not want to play. I find that very disappointing. We pay his wages and he has a responsibility to the club. We have a lot of supporters who idolise this club and love it.(Source: Google)
We have a management team and people around who have been here a long time. They respect the club and like it as much as the supporters do. To do what he has done is totally disrespectful. Obviously people have been blowing in his ear. That goes on. I will have a chat with him.
We won't be giving him away and doing a deal because of what he has done. There has been interest from one or two clubs but nowhere near our valuation. We think he is a good goalkeeper and we want good players."
"Chelsea's offer for Burdisso? No, I have received no proposal from the management of the London club about Burdisso, We will do everything to bring back Nicolas to Roma and we will try to reach an agreement for as long as we have opportunity and time to do it."Remember, Carlo said yesterday that we do not need any more defenders. I think this one should now be firmly put to bed!.
"There are at least four clubs in for the player as well as the Bianconeri (Juventus) there are also Barcelona, Chelsea and Sevilla. In Italy there is also Fiorentina, Napoli and Roma that have always liked him, but it is outside their budget."(Source: ESPN)
"Park’s representatives were in London to meet Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti, sporting director Frank Arnesen and chief executive Ron Gourlay before the Blues’ season opener against West Brom to discuss a possible switch to the Premier League and negotiations were reportedly positive. So could there be any substance in this story? Have their representatives already met Chelsea or is it just pure speculation? There is no question the Asian football market is huge and could have a positive effect on the global brand Chelsea are looking to expand so it will be interesting to see if it is in fact true and something comes of this in the coming days.
If Chelsea are willing to sign the 25-year-old, they will have to meet Monaco’s asking price of at least £8 million which would also likely be the last of the club’s summer transfer activity.
In a sign of forward planning, the Blues will be embarking on another Far East tour next summer where they are due to play in Bangkok against a Thailand All Stars XI and plan to add another date in South Korea, whereupon with Park in the squad they would be able to command up to £2 million in match fees as well as generating increased revenue via shirt sales which Asian football fans are known for lapping up without a second thought.
Having a South Korea star at the club would also send a message to one of the club’s sponsors – Samsung – and encourage the massive conglomerate to extend their contract with the team beyond the 2012-2013 season when the current deal runs out.

Finally today to our new man Ramires. He has spoken of how much he cannot wait to play for Chelsea and it could be as early as against Stoke on Saturday!. He said:
“I cannot wait to play my first game for Chelsea. I've spoken to the manager and that could happen this Saturday, My debut will be incredible for me because I've always dreamed of this chance. It will be a great moment for me.(Source: Goal.com)
Chelsea have begun the season like a locomotive engine but the season is long and the matches are not always easy. For me, Chelsea is the favourite for the title and I want to be in the starting XI. That is my target.
London is wonderful. I have visited the city with my wife Islana and its enormous and very interesting, I want to be a success in the Premier League, stay for a long time and enjoy my football on the pitch. I am working hard every day in training hoping to get my opportunity. To play at Stamford Bridge in front of the fans will be perfect.”
Let's hope that Ramires get's his chance to play asap and shows us all exactly why Chelsea spent big this summer!
