The Chelsea Daily Drivel is a daily update of all the stories concerning our club, the rumours, the opinions and more....
So here are the Chelsea news updates on Monday 8th August 2010 including: Jose finally admits defeat with Ashley Cole, Kaka and Ray Wilkins on Ramires, Jack Cork told he can leave the club?, Ancelotti not worried by our poor pre-season form, Video highlights of the game yesterday, Didier Drogba admits Chelsea looked "Flat" in yesterdays game and has Carlo had enough with our Goalkeepers and is now looking to Begovic?
First to news of Jose Mourinho and his interest in Ashley Cole. It looks like after Carlo has spoken all summer about the Cole not being for sale, Jose has finally admitted defeat. Jose said:
Now to Ramires. Fellow Brazilian Kaka has spoken about the anticipated Chelsea signing and what he can bring to the side. He said:
Ray Wilkins also spoke of Ramires. He had been asked the question that all of us have been wondering, "Where is he?". He said:
Now to a player who has been reportedly told that he can leave the club and that's Jack Cork. According to Footy-Mad Burnley boss Brian Laws has remained in constant contact with Chelsea about Cork ever since he was on loan there last season, and with the likes of Brendan Rogers at Swansea, are keen to sign him.
Now to yesterday and the fall out after our defeat to United at the Community Shield yesterday. I had immediatley asked the question straight after the game yesterday but Carlo Ancelotti has spoken out and is unconcerned at our poor pre season form. He said:
Didier Drogba has spoken after the game. He said:
Now to news of a possible move by Carlo Ancelotti to bolster our options in goal if Cech isn't available. We all know Turnbull is not good enough, Hilario is ok but is known to make the odd blunder or two so it comes as no surprise to Chelsea fans that reports have appeared this morning stating that Chelsea are looking to move for Stoke keeper Asmir Begovic.
Begovic, 23, has the added advantage of qualifying as a home-grown player because, despite his Bosnian nationality, he moved to Portsmouth on a youth contract in 2003. That means that although he had loans spells at Macclesfield Town, Bournemouth and Yeovil Town before he turned 21, he has spent the required three years before that birthday training at the academies of English clubs.

First to news of Jose Mourinho and his interest in Ashley Cole. It looks like after Carlo has spoken all summer about the Cole not being for sale, Jose has finally admitted defeat. Jose said:
"Carlo Ancelotti was very, very clear and that's the best way in football. He killed the story by saying, 'No money can buy Ashley Cole, Ashley Cole needs to stay. I think Ashley thought about leaving for personal and professional reasons. We thought about him because he's a good player who I enjoyed working with. But when a coach says no, it's no, and we have to accept that."
Now to Ramires. Fellow Brazilian Kaka has spoken about the anticipated Chelsea signing and what he can bring to the side. He said:
“For me there is no doubt that Chelsea have signed the very best young central midfield player in the world. Now he is at Chelsea I think he will become the best midfield player in the world within two years and will be placed in the same bracket as Claude Makelele, Roy Keane and Patrick Vieira.
Not only is Ramires a great player but he is a humble boy and is always willing to listen and learn from those that have been in the game a long time. Frank Lampard still probably has another two years left at the top and I am sure he can be a great mentor to him. Those two can form a devastating partnership that nobody in the Premier League will be able to cope with. Ramires is the complete central midfield player. He can tackle, pass, he works hard, he is strong and he can score goals. He will make the Chelsea midfield look frightening.
At such a young age, Ramires plays with no fear and playing at such a big club and in such big games won’t trouble him. I don’t see anybody stopping Chelsea making it two Premier League titles in a row.”
Ray Wilkins also spoke of Ramires. He had been asked the question that all of us have been wondering, "Where is he?". He said:
"Nothing has been finalised as yet, but we are certainly in the mix for Ramires, We would like him to join us and hopefully that will go through pretty shortly."
He said:
'We have improved, we may have to improve more and we have to have more time in possession. We played too slowly at the start and we didn't have the possibility of finding our play in the first half, so for this reason we have to work. They played better than us and they deserved to win, we knew Manchester could play a good game. They did that and they deserved it.Here is video highlights of the game yesterday courtesy of The FATV.
But importantly now our players are very close to being fit. This was Essien's first game of 90 minutes for eight months and Lampard and Terry played 90 minutes each. They need more time, which is why it is good for them to play a national game this week. They could play 70 minutes without a problem. Naturally they have to improve still but within one or two weeks they will be fully fit.
It was not a good pre-season, we need the players who came back on 26 July to have more time to train. We knew it was a difficult pre-season but we are disappointed, we don't want to lose these games."
Didier Drogba has spoken after the game. He said:
"We had a difficult pre-season, a lot of players were coming back from holidays, I came back only 10 days ago. I think we have a lot of players like this coming back very late. It's difficult to be fit after only days so we'll need more time but the competition is starting next week so we have to find a solution."

Ashley going to Real is tempting with Benzema plus cash coming in. Moreover, we have Zhirkov and Aanholt, even Ferreira!
ReplyDeleteKaka’s comment on Ramires is uplifting but we all got to wait and see how true he can come. Let us hope that he gets it “frightening”ly true!
Jack Cork is, what I personally think, a bright future prospect and I am not in for selling him. May be we can loan him for another season if our midfield is too good without him. Don’t forget that he is English.
And YES, we badly need a good second choice goalkeeper, someone who can even challenge Cech for the spot. I don’t know much about Begovic but he sure sounds better than Hilario and Turnbull. Thank you for the information that he is a homegrown player; a plus point!
Cork is good player. He should stay in Chelsea.
