The Chelsea Daily Drivel is a daily update of all the stories concerning our club, the rumours, the opinions and more....
So here is the latest from around the web on Friday 30th July 2010 including: Deco's gone?, Benayoun talks up the challenge at Chelsea, Carlo's view on City's spending, Van Der Wiel linked with £20m move?, Our youngsters get battered at Wycombe!, Kakuta's final date today and the squad head to Germany.
First to Deco. English paper THE SUN has written today that Deco has left the club to return to Brazil almost as if its happened but no official word from Chelsea as yet. This is no biggie as far as I am concerned as he has made it clear he wanted to leave anyway. I still haven't changed my view on Deco..so he won't be missed in my eyes!.
Now to new signing Yossi Benayoun. He has spoken of the challenge ahead playing for Chelsea and said:
Saying that, I am warming to him. I like the fact that he promises to work hard and give his best and by doing that he is half way there for me. I had some opinons from you with my post I have mentioned above but how do you fellow Chelsea fans feel about what he has said? Are you warming to him like me?.
Now to Carlo Ancelotti. He has had time to reflect and prepare for this season and like the rest of us has taken note of City and what they have been doing to prepare for this season. However, it seems as though Carlo (like most of us) isn't certain that they will be successful. He said:
Now to Dutch International Gregory van der Wiel. THE SUN this morning are running a story that Chelsea have expressed an interest to Ajax in signing their 22 year old full back as Carlo Ancelotti is determined to bolster his defensive options for the coming season.
Its seems as though Ajax would be prepared to sell him as a deal had been agree with Bayern Munich for the player but hit a snag and fell through. Apparently a reason they were prepared to sell him is that Martin Jol has been told he needs to sell players to raise money before he can spend. Expect more on this to follow in the coming days.
Now to news of another defeat in pre-season. The Chelsea youngster's including a few of the more established reserves and one or two who have appeared in the First Team took the field in a Chelsea eleven to take on full strength Wycombe last night and the outcome was dire to say the least. Chelsea lost 5-1 after taking the lead. John Paul Pittman scored a hatrick to put Chelsea to the sword last night in a side that had included the likes of Scott Sinclair, Franco Di Santo, Ryan Bertrand and Jack Cork.
These few seem to have done themselves no favours once more in their individual aspirations to be a part of the First Team squad this season!.
Now to a youngster who has been doing really well and scoring goals. Gael Kakuta will appear for the France U19 team tonight against their counterparts Spain in the European Championship Final. Good luck to him and let's hope he is one that comes back and gets straight into the First Team squad for this season!.
Finally today the squad have set off to Germany for two friendlies to continue our Pre Season. First up is Sunday's game against Eintracht Frankfurt followed by Wednesday's game against Hamburg. Its a chance for all players to be involved or play some part in the games apart from those carrying injuries. Let's hope we prepare well, play well and come back with no more!.
KTBFFH!!

Now to new signing Yossi Benayoun. He has spoken of the challenge ahead playing for Chelsea and said:
"There are a lot of good players, big players, for me it is the beginning and I have to work hard and prove I can bring something to this club, The only thing I can promise is I will work hard and do my best, and hopefully it will be good enough. I had offers from a few teams but when Chelsea came in for me it was the obvious and only thing to think about, and I am glad it came out in the end.Well I have to say as regular visitors to my blog will know, I wasn't impressed with his signing and I still have reservations about the fact that our existing first 11 will not feel threatened by him coming to the club.
The last home game I knew it would be my last for Liverpool, I tried to do my best but Chelsea were strong, All the years here in England, five years, Chelsea were always a difficult side to play against with big players and that's why they are always there at the top fighting for trophies. That's why I am glad to be a part of it now.
It is a great training ground and you can see it is one of the best clubs in the world from the way the people here treat you, It is a good challenge for me and I am ready for it."
Saying that, I am warming to him. I like the fact that he promises to work hard and give his best and by doing that he is half way there for me. "A club works when people follow the rules and respect them. Favourites for the Premier League? Chelsea obviously, then the usual three, Man U, Arsenal, and Liverpool. I will also add Manchester City to that list. Mancini has spent a lot. But money is not enough in football to make a team great. Look at Real Madrid last season."He has a point and point made. I have to say I agree with him. I had asked the question if we should be worried about City this season earlier in my blog so if you missed it have a look.
