The Chelsea Daily Drivel is a daily update of all the stories concerning our club, the rumours, the opinions and more....
So here is the latest from around the web on Thursday 8th July 2010 including: Chelsea to sell Mancienne?, More on Ozil, Someone else leaves Chelsea and Hodgson's intent to keep Torres.
First to the news that Wolves Manager Mick McCarthy is preparing a bid of £4m for Michael Mancienne. The Sun is reporting that Chelsea are finally ready to offload Mancienne who has been on loan at Wolves already for two spells.
To me this is a shame if the story is true. We have all seen the intention of Carlo to bring the younger players through and I would have thought that Mancienne, who let's not forget has already featured in one of Fabio Capello's England squad's) would of been a prime candidate. More on this story to follow.
Next to Mesut Ozil. Now the German's are out of the World Cup there are reports that Werder Bremen are expecting a number of bids for their star. General Manager Klaus Allofs has said:

"Now he is playing a fantastic World Cup campaign, there is definitely increasing interest, But when it comes down to concrete bids, nothing has been done. We want him to stay on and actually there is no news. There are no indications he does not want to see out his contract at our club."It will be interesting to see if Chelsea do declare their interest in the player of the coming days. The player has 12 months left on his contract.
Now to news of someone else who has left Chelsea. The Daily Mail have reported that Team Security Chief Brian Horrigan (bottom left corner of the photo) has parted company with the club after his role was deemed surplus to requirements. Horrigan is often seen at the entrance to the tunnel area during matches just behind the dug out. A spokesperson said:
'The position has been made redundant. We have the necessary security at Chelsea.'The article also reiterates the fact that Horrigan was in charge of security as Chelsea took to America last season where Ashley Cole was reported to have been upto no good with a woman in the team hotel.
Finally new Liverpool manager Roy Hodgson has spoken about Fernando Torres and his future. In an interview published on the official Liverpool website Hodgson is quoted as saying:
"Fernando is a wonderful striker and I understand the fans' concerns about his future, Unfortunately with the World Cup still on, I won't be able to meet him face to face for another few weeks. That's just circumstance and you won't hear me complaining about it.Let's hope Torres comes back after his break, realises that the Champions League is where he wants to be playing and jumps on the first flight to Stamford Bridge.
When I do meet him, I will be doing everything I possibly can to convince him that Liverpool is the place to be. If he sees progress, I am confident that he won't want to go anywhere else. I think he understands the club and the city."
