So let's catch up on the goings on at Chelsea in the last few days since I have been away and firstly to the news that Portugal were knocked out of the World Cup which means no Chelsea players were left in the competition anymore. Riccardo Carvalho has spoken about their exit. He said:
"I think you need more offensively, We defended well, but you have to create more chances to score. We were just playing on the counter-attack and I think you need more to win. Everyone wants to do better, but the reality was that we lost the ball quickly and it was difficult because Spain had more possession and were more dangerous, Of course, we had one or two chances and if you score then it could be different. But in the end we should do more offensively to try to win the game."
I guess they had the same problem England did!
Now to news of another youngster who has left the club. Nana Ofori-Twumasi has signed for Peterborough this week on a three year contract. Peterborough Manager Gary Johnson said:
“Nana has been at Chelsea for a few years and anyone who spends that length of time there has to be a good player. We have had him here all week and he has been outstanding. He’s not the biggest defender, but he is strong and he is rapid. Nana could play in either full-back role and even as a central defender. There is no doubt that he will be the quickest player at the club.Good luck to Nana for the future!.
He has played at numerous England age levels and if he gets in our side I would expect him to challenge for the under 21 squad. Make no mistake it’s a real coup to sign him. There were an awful lot of clubs after him including Twente and others from abroad so we are thrilled he has chosen us.”
Now to German star Mesut Ozil. He has spoken of his future and in particular the Premier League. He said:
"The World Cup is all that matters at the moment, When I get back we can think about my future, but for now it's not something I want to give a lot of thought to. To the top players, the Premier League is attractive.Let's see if anything happens with Ozil after the World Cup. You be sure that there will be plenty of sides looking to sign him.
You look at what Manchester United and Chelsea have achieved over the last five years and you see it would be easy to be successful at two clubs like that. I see what Michael Ballack achieved at Chelsea and the quality of players he played with and the temptation becomes obvious.
Trophies are what matters to me. There are two teams in England always at the top and of course that's attractive, but the same is true for La Liga. They're the strongest leagues in the world."
Now another quick note on Joe Cole who today hasn't got a club since he officially left Chelsea on Thursday. AC Milan Vice-President Adriano Galliani spoke about Joe and said:
'What would we do with Cole? Milan have a very complete squad.'Looks like another door is shut then for Joe!
Now finally if you have missed it Chelsea announced they have signed Yossi Benayoun. I posted on here yesterday and the discussion is still going on!. Make sure you check it out!
