The Chelsea Daily Drivel is a daily update of all the stories concerning our club, the rumours, the opinions and more....
So here is the latest from around the web on Monday 19th July 2010 including: Franco Di Santo leaving Chelsea again?, Steve McClaren's raid on Chelsea, Ancelotti explains the reason behind Joe Cole's exit and Scott Sinclair determined to make his mark this season.
First today to Franco Di Santo who led the line up front with Danny Sturridge on Saturday against Crystal Palace. Even though he featured in the game, it seems that he is surplus to requirements at the club once more this season and Wigan Manager Roberto Martinez has his eyes on a possible loan move this season.
Di Santo had spent last season away on loan at Blackburn so has Premiership experience and Martinez wants to give him the chance of more at Wigan. I would say at this stage that its more or less a dead cert that he will go out on loan, with Wigan now being the ideal opportunity for Franco to add to his experience.
Now to the "Wally with the Brolley" Steve McClaren and his intention to make a move for Chelsea's promising youngster Jeffrey Bruma. Its rumoured that Bruma is another player that Ancelotti and the club have decided is not quite ready to break into the first team squad this season and are willing to loan him out to a heavyweight european side and McClaren's Wolfsburg fit the bill.
McClaren had kept tabs on Bruma during his successful spell as FC Twente and was rumoured to want to take him to Twente with Chelsea old boy Miroslav Stoch but Chelsea rebuffed his attempt back then to sign him on loan. Now it seems, the time is right for Chelsea and expect this loan deal to go through in the coming days.
Carlo Ancelotti has spoken for the first time about Joe Cole's departure and as we all expected it was about the money. There had been speculation about the fact that Joe wanted silly money from the club and also a cemented place week in week out in the first team. Carlo has explained why he left. He said:
Finally to another one of the youngsters who saw action against Palace on Saturday and that is the returning Scott Sinclair. Sinclair had spent last season on loan at Wigan and is now back at the club and is hoping to make some form of impact this season. He said:
KTBFFH!

There had been speculation about the fact that Joe wanted silly money from the club and also a cemented place week in week out in the first team. Carlo has explained why he left. He said:
The problem was economic, It was a problem between the club and Joe Cole, not me. We spoke about this but when the problem is with money, it is not my problem. It is difficult to keep a player all the time in one squad. I think Joe Cole, like Michael Ballack and Julian Belletti, did a fantastic job. I want to thank them but now is the time to change."
Finally to another one of the youngsters who saw action against Palace on Saturday and that is the returning Scott Sinclair. Sinclair had spent last season on loan at Wigan and is now back at the club and is hoping to make some form of impact this season. He said:
"I thought I gave them a few problems and I got a free-kick which I thought was a penalty, It was in the box but the ref said he gave them the benefit of the doubt. It was nice coming back to Palace and seeing a few players I know and it is good to be back at Chelsea. Hopefully I will get a look in for the start of the season. The double training sessions are getting harder and harder as we go along. I am fit anyway and in a couple more weeks I should be up to a high standard of fitness."I have to say out of all of our youngsters I have high hopes for Sinclair. His pace and natural ability will always give him a chance in the game and for me in a few years he could be as effective as an Henry type of forward. Let's hope he gets some action this season at the Bridge.
KTBFFH!
I don't get it all over sudden "We don't rate Sinclair"...I remember three or four years ago he was the one we all talked about! i remember the beautiful solo goal he scored when he was on loan! now we onto some new sh*t! on to the next one every new season! these pressure and huge expectations kills their young confidence!!! We need to keep players like Sinclair, Cork, Manciene, Bruma...heck, even Di Santo! these players can play more games at Chelsea fc! if they do play Curling Cup and early round FA CUPS!...That would also make our big players concentrate on the BIG FISH(UCL/EPL)! did i also mention they would be fresh and ready too??
ReplyDeletei have to say i agree with anonymous,. we should use our kids in carling cup and early FA with some senior players, i wonder how Carlo views the Carling cup and the youngsters. but i hope he listens to mr anonymous, haha
ReplyDeleteTrouble is, Sinclair did nothing in those 3 or 4 years. Couldn't even get picked by Wigan. That goal he scored years ago was in lower leagues, not PL where everyone just shuffles him into a corner and he disappears.
