The Chelsea Daily Drivel is a daily update of all the stories concerning our club, the rumours, the opinions and more....
So here is the latest from around the web on Sunday 6th June 2010 including, The Joe Cole saga takes a twist?, Andy Carrol to Chelsea? and Frank Lampard appointed England Vice-Captain.
First of all and the Joe Cole situation is again dominating the papers/media. Various different papers/sites have conflicting stories about Joe but one thing has been made clear by Ray Wilkins today. Ray has spoken for himself and Carlo Ancelotti and has said:
This is encouraging news and its obvious now the stance that Ancelotti has at Chelsea and he wants to keep him. Its now between the club and the players representatives. However, the rumour mill is still in full swing with football correspondant Harry Harris writing an article for ESPN stating that Joe will not be signing for Arsenal or Manchester United and there is a small chance that he will stay at Chelsea.
Of course this will rumble on now until after the World Cup. Expect more and more twists and turns on this one.
A fresh rumour thats appeared since yesterday is the news that Chelsea are looking at Newcastle's frontman Andy Carroll. Caught Offside are running the story and reports that Chelsea are looking at promising home-grown players to bring into the club following the arrivals of Daniel Sturridge and Ross Turnbull last summer. Carroll finished the season with 19 goals in 35 starts and is definatley a prospect. However, its reporting that a move made by Chelsea would be rejected as Newcastle Owner Mike Ashley couldn't afford to upset the Newcastle fans anymore!.
Finally there is great news for Frank Lampard. With the injury to Rio Ferdinand, Steven Gerrard is now the England Captain. Fabio Capello has installed Lampard as the new England vice-captain. Lamps of course, does the job at Chelsea and will have no problems in the role for England.
CAREFREE & KTBFFH!

"We've obviously been in dialogue with Joe for months now and it's pretty evident that Carlo and myself would love Joe to stay but it's down now to the club to see what we can do. We sincerely hope Joe stays with us - he's a smashing guy and he's a wonderful footballer so we'll keep our fingers crossed."
