The Chelsea Daily Drivel is a daily update of all the stories concerning our club, the rumours, the opinions and more....
So here is the latest from around the web on Sunday 6th June 2010 including: Marcel Desailly add's his opinion on the Joe Cole situation,Florent Malouda, Sergio Ramos and Petr Cech.
Today Marcel Desailly has added his opinion on the Joe Cole situation and has suggested that if Joe Cole does leave Chelsea then he would be better of at Manchester United rather than Arsenal. He said:
Once more today the press are covering "updates" on this situation and the majority are reporting that Joe Cole will not make any decision on his future until after the world cup. This will roll on for a good while yet so expect more and more on this one, especially if he plays well.
One thing to note. England will have their final warm-up game at 1500GMT today in South Africa and Fabio Capello has said that the first eleven who will start on Saturday in England's first game against the USA WILL start today. Let's see if Joe gets the nod and how well he does in a few hours time.
Florent Malouda has given an interview in the Guardian before the World Cup and has spoken of the problems they have in the French side at the moment. In the same interview he has spoken of his recent form which follows on nicely from my article on Malouda yesterday. Malouda said:
Now to the rumour that seems to be intensifying but I have to say seems a long way off, that Chelsea are interested in Real Madrid star Sergio Ramos. The Spanish Daily sport are reporting that Carlo Ancelotti will offer Madrid 30 million euros to land the attacking right back. Its no secret that Jose Mourinho is in pursuit of Maicon to play that role under him at Madrid and its also reporting that Ramos is reluctant to play at Centre back for Mourinho.
With Jose Bosingwa's ongoing injury problems and the possible departure of Carvalho from Stamford Bridge this summer, Branislav Ivanovic would be moved into the middle and Ramos down the right.
I have to say I can't really see this one happening and I can see Ramos playing in the middle for Madrid. Jose's famous arm around the shoulder of Ramos could change his attitude. Will still be interesting to see if anything should develop on this one in the next few weeks.
Finally Chelsea No.2 Ray Wilkins has heaped praise on Petr Cech's form this past season and has stated it was cruicial in the team winning the double. Wilkins said:
In the FA Cup final alone, Cech made a instinctive save from close range from Piquionne and then saved a Kevin Prince Boateng penalty moments before Drogba scored the free-kick that won us the game. Cech has had a dodgey period in his career ever since the head injury he suffered. This season he looks as though he is back to his best and let's hope it continues into next season.

"A few years ago I would have thought he would go to Arsenal, but now that he is 28 he needs to go to a team that – with him or without him – will succeed, in order to put pressure on him to deliver performances. At Arsenal there are younger players and you need to talk to them, surround them and have a positive attitude around them.”
In Joe’s current situation he needs to push on. He doesn’t need to help the others, he needs a club to help him discover his best levels once again. Therefore, I would say Manchester United"

"People had to get to know me and get used to the way I am. And I needed time to show what I can do. I came into a squad that had won a lot of titles with José Mourinho. To arrive in a team that has had great success but was on a down period, people expect a lot from you. I had to be patient. You know, I had five managers here and each time at the beginning they were trying things before I had their full confidence. I am really happy it is happening now and people can show me that love and affection the same as my team-mates.
Now we are in a situation where the team needs new players, and wants to bring up players from the academy, where there has been big investment in really talented youngsters, It is a kind of transition. And if we do it well, I really believe we can make a big dynasty and maybe be the next Manchester United."

People often forget how good Petr is. Playing for the top teams like Chelsea mean there is always great scrutiny placed on goalkeepers, any mistakes attract a lot of attention but again he has been incredibly consistent. His number of clean sheets is testament to that.
In the FA Cup final alone, Cech made a instinctive save from close range from Piquionne and then saved a Kevin Prince Boateng penalty moments before Drogba scored the free-kick that won us the game.
