ROMAN: Don't forget Chelsea do not need to sell.

So as we all know every Summer the transfer rumour mill springs into life. This Summer with the addition of the World Cup, Jose Mourinho being appointed the new Real Madrid manager in the coming days and the rest of the Premiership sides looking to bolster their squad to make a challenge next season, its already in full swing and the season has only just finished.

The World cup is a window of opportunity for players to show what they can do, what they are made of on the World stage. You can more or less guarantee that someone somewhere that we have hardly heard of will be snapped up by someone in England after the Tournament based on the impact they made. Its also an opportunity for players agents to maybe, just maybe initiate a "rumour" or "story" of "proposed" interest in their player and will either use the opportunity to negotiate a better deal for the player with his existing club or a move away.

It seems that Mr Mourinho is different. He likes to "speak" of a player who is still under contract to express his admiration for them to look to unsettle them. He did it with Ashley Cole while he was at Arsenal and is doing it again already. He will also look to capitalise on the current situation Cole finds himself in, if reports are to be believed.

In my previous post I have explained that he has confirmed he wants him at Real Madrid. He is also talking up the possibility of Frank Lampard and Steven Gerrard and the bloke hasn't even been confirmed as their manager yet!!

What Real Madrid will find different with Chelsea to their negotiations with Man United last summer for Cristiano Ronaldo is whereas United heavily in debt could not afford to turn down the offer from Madrid, Chelsea and Roman Abramovich are very very different.

Let's not forget Roman spent just 20 million last season on three players compared to some sides in the Premier League who spent fortunes and that's nowhere near Real Madrids outlay which brought them nothing at the end of the season. The notable side who were rewarded for splashing the cash last season were Spurs who managed to break into the top four with Arry's famed wheeling and dealing.

Carlo Ancelotti will know the area's he needs to strengthen in the squad and will know that if a big offer comes in, he doesn't have to sell because we need the money. He knows he has a solid foundation after this season and can look to bring in big names that will improve our squad.

So all I would say to you fellow Chelsea fans is sit tight and see what happens come kick off time in August. Just remember with Roman in charge all is well.
