Frank Lampard has taken time out to praise the Chelsea Fans in a recent interview. When asked about our fans and what makes us different to others such as United over Berbatov, he said:
"I've never heard them get right on someone's back, boo them and destroy them. Never, Don't get me wrong, they can moan and groan a little bit but that's normal. We all get upset watching games, But they are always there, they travel fantastically well and the main thing is that they don't get on anyone's back.
Some clubs, given what we've been given and being elevated to where we are now, would be moaning and thinking: 'We should be winning' after 20 minutes at 0-0 But Chelsea fans are a little bit different. Probably because they've been through a lot before I was here, where they've sat down and watched a Division Two team in a stand that was 30 yards away from the pitch.
So now they can't believe what's happening here. They go with it and, like me, they think it's fantastic."
I have to say Super Frank is spot on!. I remember 20-30 odd years ago going to the Bridge with my Dad after working on my Grandad's Fruit and Veg stall, walking up the North End Road, Fulham Road and into the ground. Paying my 5 or 6 quid to get into the game and up the famous stairs into the Shed End.
The thing is we get called glory boys or worse these days but people need to remember that we have been there playing in the old Second Division in front of 8,000 fans. We have been there through the bad times and through uncertain times and know exactly how it feels to look forward to a season where to finish mid-table is a successful.
Yes it all changed when Roman came to the club, but people need to remember that we had finished 4th and then 3rd before he was here so we were well on the way to establishing our credentials amongst the Premiership's Elite. Roman has just given us that final push and with that we have achieved the impossible. Something that appeared to be a pipe dream all those years ago.
We have celebrated winning the Zenith Data Systems Trophy against Man City at Wembley like it was the FA CUP final at the time, because to be at Wembley was amazing no matter how you got there!.
We have seen our side lose to lower league opposition in the League Cup and FA Cup numerous times in the 80's and early 90's. We have seen our club at its lowest point, virtually bankrupt and 6/7 years ago we could of been out of business, just the same as what could happen with Portsmouth.
So just to explain, if you are a Chelsea fan you fully understand where Frank is coming from and make sure you celebrate every success like its our last cause you never know in football. For non-Chelsea fans reading this, I hope this goes to explain that we are not arrogant, we aren't cocky and we aren't rubbing peoples noses in it.
We are Chelsea, Blue-boys through and through and cause we have seen and been through the ringer we are going to celebrate whatever comes our way!. So to re-iterate once more in the words of Frank Lampard:
"So now they can't believe what's happening here. They go with it and, like me, they think it's fantastic."
CAREFREE & KTBFFH EVERYONE!
