Chelsea 2-1 Fulham.
Well that was nervy wasn't it. Trust Chelsea to go a goal down after 4 minutes and put us through the ringer once more. To our credit we came back and played much better in the second half and deserved the win.
But again sloppy defending cost us as Zoltan Gera had time and space in the box to spin and volley the ball into the bottom corner with Cech beaten to make it one nil Fulham. How come he had so much space? Why did Konchesky have the time and space down our right hand side to measure his cross which led to the goal?.
It wasn't the best of starts and let's face it we should of been level at half time. Second half we came out and played so much better. Didier Drogba finally got on the end of a decent cross from Ivanovic to head us level with 20 mins to go and it was the least we deserved after dominating possession once more.
Once the goal went in it was all guns blazing. We had total control of the game and Fulham sat deep to defend their point but a ball into the box, found Sturridge who fired towards the far corner, Schwarzer pushed the ball away, but onto the Fulham defenders leg and the ball rebounded off of him into the bottom corner. 2-1 Chelsea and it was the least we deserved.
But again there are things that concern me and fellow Chelsea fans around me. Our defence look as though they have lost their confidence in Cech. At times he comes out for a ball and then hesitates, which in turn cause problems. When he does come to grab the ball or punch it away he isn't 100% committed to his decision and ends up making a meal of it. For example when Ballack got caught in the face as he was trying to head the ball away for a corner.
Also worrying times as our defending seems to be all over the place. We don't look confident defending set pieces and this really needs to be addressed. Its plain for all to see teams can see our weakness and attack us whereas they were much more wary of our threat we posed all over the pitch.
Carlo Ancelotti needs to work with Cech and our back four to eliminate these problems as if he doesn't its going to cost us bigtime!
But it was a win, three points and five points clear at the top again! Thank god for that!
