For a couple of weeks now I have been going on about how Deco should be dropped for Joe Cole. I was wondering if any of you agree or if any of you want to make an argument for the case of either one.
I am sure I am not the only one that feels like this about Deco at the moment.
So the question is Who would you play? Deco or Joe Cole? It will be interesting to see the response this question gets from you the Chelsea Fans all over the world!

As far i am concerned Deco seems to struggle against opposition that uses a physical style of game. He gets hustled and outmuscled very often. Joe Cole can be very useful as he provides very creative moves up field. I for one would prefer to see Joe cole play rather than Deco

ReplyDeleteUnfortuately Joe having started 3 games before the city match failed to impress - on the other hand Deco, while decent against the lower PL teams just isn't up to it work rate wise or physically, against the top eight teams.
The other thing is the team seems more fluenmt when Joe's playing i don't know exactly why this is because he doesn't always play well - i'm a bit worried he's bulked up too much or that he's lost a bit of his pace ( never great) with the knee injury.
Basically though i wish we hadn't brought Deco he should be spain or italy where his style is more suited and here he just creates a problem simply by being here. In fact my only complaint against Ancelotti is that he does play Deco.
For me its joe all the time until he's utterly proves he can't do it. Which would be a very sad day.
It is Joe Cole in a walk. Deco does not play at the pace of the premier league. Deco often has a moment or two of sheer brilliance but Joe Cole gives a better performance over the course of the game.
ReplyDeleteJoe has much more speed than Deco and a better work rate (thanks to Mourinho). Deco as a sub is not terrible but should not be starting he can come on after JOey has softened up the defense a little.
I think the team seems more fluid because true to his song Joey is everywhere out there and it allows for Frankie to push up because he trusts that Joe will cover for him if he gets caught up field.
To sum up my opinion... Joe Cole all day, every day.
