Carvalho for Van Nistlerooy!! No Thanks!

Another story that is doing the rounds at the moment is the fact that Real Madrid have lost one of their key defenders in Pepe for 6 months and they are now focusing their spending power on Ricardo Carvalho after they had an offer in the summer for Alex turned down. They see Riccy as the ideal replacement to bolster their defensive line and are even looking at offering Chelsea Ruud Van Nistlerooy in exchange!.

As we all know Riccy had one eye on looking to move away from the Bridge in the summer but nothing happened and he has been part of the first team this season. For me, he is the best all round centre half in world football. His reading of the game is second to none, his awareness on the pitch and is positional play is simply world class.

If Chelsea are serious about winning back the Premier League and making a real push for Champions League glory this season then we need to keep hold of Riccy. I know last season, Hiddink rarely used him after he returned from injury but In my opinion a Chelsea defence without Carvalho around is much worse than with him there...

This one is dead in the water for me...
