John Terry: "I wouldn't be surprised if we buy in January!"

John Terry has stoked the fires surrounding the current rumour mill that surrounds Chelsea since the CAS suspended the UEFA Ban that had been imposed on us.   Ever since the ban was suspended alot of focus has been on the fact that Chelsea will be spending in January and JT has done his bit to continue the speculation right through from now till the end of Jan. He said:

“The suspension is good news as we lose four good players in January anyway,” “I’m sure the club and the manager are looking into that and having good talks with Roman. I wouldn’t be surprised if we do go out and buy because we don’t know what’s going to happen in the summer or the following summer.”

“Looking at it realistically, we’re maybe going to be suspended in the summer window and maybe another one after that,” “The manager has great experience and he knows what we need. We’re going well at the minute and we’re lucky enough to have a big squad with good players who can come in if we get injuries.”

Well with the current list of injuries we have the rumour mill will be going into overdrive once more. At the moment there are various players linked to Chelsea in January such as Adam Johnson of Middlesborough. I was reading about signing in Jan and loaning straight back to them till the end of the season. Also we are reportedly after Jack Rodwell of Everton with a reported fee of nearly £14m which to me is ridiculous. He is young and would not break into our first team at the moment and we don't want more Scott Parker or Steve Sidwell situations at the club again.

JT, when he made his first statement after all the Man City speculation back in the summer, said the following:

"Another important factor was knowing that Chelsea would be securing key current players for the long term. The strengthening of the squad around this core is crucial to pushing us onto greater success"


So the signs were there and obviously took a blow when the ban was announced, but now the club has its chance to bolster the squad. I have posted about the need to strengthen so won't be going down that road again but you have to say that if JT has come out and said it, then its more than likely going to happen.
