I have to say maybe I was slightly harsh on the boys after the Atletico game the other night as we are sitting pretty at the top of our group with two games to play.
Let's face it there are a number of big european sides that are all but comfortable at the moment and will be giving their all to make sure of qualification for the last 16. The poor scousers are struggling, bless em!, Barcelona and Inter are making their groups harder for themselves than they need to so thinking about the position we are in, its not so bad after all.
I would like to attack teams more but, as I have said before its all about qualifying as soon as possible in the group stages.
The positive for us is that we are able to rotate the squad as we did the other night, whereas the likes of Liverpool have to put their strongest side out as its all or nothing for them. Its when you see their situation that it makes you sit back, look at where we are and realise that it ain't that bad at all.
The main thing for us now is the Porto game. Get at least a draw against them away on the 15th and we can take on APOEL in our last group game at the Bridge, take the points and finish where we are supposed to!
Another thing about the other night was Ancelotti's comments about Drogba. He said:
"I want to keep him and I don't want to change him with another striker," "He is in a good moment, I'm very happy. I hope he can continue." "Didier is an important player for us. We have a lot of important players but he is doing very well and we are happy," "He was motivated at the start of the season and has been doing very well and continues to do very well, and I hope he can play in other games like he did against Atletico."
It was nice to see Carlo come out and speak about Didier which in turn will give Drogba another public "cuddle" that he seems to desire these days. One thing is for sure, whatever Ancelotti is doing at the moment as far as Drogba is concerned ( and i wasn't his biggest fan before he came to Chelsea ) he just needs to keep doing all season!
