Frank Lampard today hailed Nicolas Anelka and Didier Drogba as the best in the world!.
Lampard said:
"Nico has been fantastic all season. Along with Didier they are a great partnership," Lampard said. "He (Anelka) has tremendous pace and balance, particularly when he runs at defenders.
"He is so cool, so we have two players who for me are the best at what they do in the world. Nico gives Didier space, he is clever and drifts wide. It is a whole new problem for defenders to cope with. He floats around and Didier has the power."
You'd have to agree as at the moment they are both on form, playing well and scoring goals. Ask any Managers in the Premier League and I am sure that these two will be up there as the most dangerous in the League and Europe!
Great to hear Lamps singing their praises as after all, alot of people doubted whether or not they would be able to play together, whereas the couple said time after time, "Let us play together!". So it started with Ray Wilkins in his game as manager at Watford away, Hiddink followed suit and Ancelotti has done the same and look at the result so far.
Don't get me wrong, they are still some way off becoming the most potent strike force but the initial signs have been good. They are gaining more of an understanding where the other one is in relation to their position on the pitch but of course this can be improved. They look for each other when they have the ball at their feet, but again knowing where the other one will be making a run will come with time. There were signs of that at Fulham as Drogba put Nico through for the second goal.
The thing is they must sit and talk about their partnership and think, with the likes of Lampard, Ballack, Deco, Joe Cole, Malouda, Essien & Zhirkov supporting them in midfield they will always have the opportunity to score goals in this team.
Let's hope their good form continues!.
