What other Strikers defend as much? - Drogba

 

Didier Drogba when away for the International game made a comment that made me think the other day. He said:

“I often sacrifice myself for the good of the team,” said the former Marseille man. “I don't look at my scoring statistics. Have you ever seen any other great striker do as much defending as I do?”

At first I laughed to myself and thought Drogba is back to his old tricks of once away with Chelsea makes some sort of statement to get the press cogs everywhere churning into action. But then I thought about it and he is right!

Countless times since he has been at Chelsea he is there in our own box defending corners and making important clearing headers away from danger, ok i know once or twice he leaves his man to our cost, but in the majority he has a point.

How many other forwards do you know or are aware of that have the same impact at each end of the pitch? They might get back to make up the numbers but I certainly don't & can't recal anyone else being as effective as Didier.

So Didier its hats off to ya! Your our Super Attacker who Defends in the time of need for 2009!.
