So today Chelsea travel to the Britannia Stadium looking to make it five out of five this season and for ten straight wins in the Premier League following on from our fantastic end to last season.
Today we are without Deco who got injured in midweek during the International break, Zhirkov, Joe Cole and Paulo Ferreria as they are still working back towards full fitness. Everybody else is fit and available to play.
One thing about today's game is that there has been the break, players have been away and Carlo has only had two days to work with the players to prepare for today but still, you have to say, we should be too strong for the big spending Stoke today.
I was reading Stoke's fan website www.whydelilah.co.uk (Good site by the way) and one guy on there has written a post about our game their last season. He mentions that be their own admission, Chelsea were the only side to stop Stoke playing last season at the Britannia and they are in the Premiership to play games like this one today. Which i thought was a real honest opinion because let's face it we did!
I expect more of the same today. It may take us a while to get back into our stride which is no real surprise after the players being away, but you have to say whoever plays today should be too strong and we should get another three points. With Arsenal playing City and Spurs playing United this weekend its a chance to open a gap at the top of the table and with games like this one today its important that we do.
The most impressive thing so far this season has to be how we have dominated and controlled games. Imposed our passing game on the opposition and ground them down. I can see us continuing in this vein today with Drogba, Lampard and Anelka looking to score goals.
We will have to keep our discipline though as the long throw's will be something we have to handle. But we did it effectively enough last season and we should be able to stamp out the threat they can pose us today.
I can see the back four remaining the same along with Cech as the Burnley game. I can see Mikel maybe coming in for Deco alongside, Essien, Ballack and Lampard and Anelka and Didi up front. Let's hope we can take control of the game, get a decent couple of goals and make some changes with the Champions League game in mind this week.
So for me, once more, its three points for Chelsea as we march on!
KTBFFH & Carefree everyone!
nice football chelsea
