Much has been said during the close season and this pre season and also speculated about. Manchester City have been throwing their money around, Arsenal (you could argue) have sold two of their former mainstays at the club. Manchester United have lost arguably their biggest player and another fans favourite and Liverpool are about to lose their best playmaker, passer of a ball.
So where does it leave them all for this coming season and more importantly where does this leave Chelsea??.
Sir Alex Ferguson has already written off Manchester City's hopes of the title / top four. Sees Arsenal being weakened by the sale of Adebayor and Toure and see's Liverpool's hopes written off too!. He has gone on record to state that he see's one challenge this season and the challenge is Chelsea:
"It has to be Chelsea as the main threat. Ancelotti will change how they play.
"They will play the Milan way. It brought him two European Cups - it should have been three, because they should never have lost to Liverpool"
He has said that with Ancelotti coming in, we will "play a different way" and we are the main challengers to United's title.
Do we agree? Non Chelsea fans who maybe stumble across this article will see this as being biased but if you ask any Chelsea fan they will tell you that with all the goings on at the clubs around us and the definite weakening of United's squad in my book, he is spot on.
We haven't lost any one that is regarded as a mainstay in the squad, as Jose called them "The Invincibles". We have added to our ranks with the signings of Zhirkov and Sturridge and with the likes of Essien fit for the whole season, Didier back firing again and hungry for the game, Deco and Carvalho fit and the new manager in place I can only see us as the strongest squad of players in the Premier League.
Yes there maybe one or two players that leave before the end of the transfer deadline which is more than likely to happen as Carlo looks to trim his squad down to 26 including the three keepers. But, remember under Hiddink, 1 defeat in 13 games and we were back to our best. That was without the likes of Deco, Carvalho and the new boys.
We are a very tight knit unit at Chelsea and you have to say looking at the cover we have for every single position we are looking in good shape. The likes of United & Liverpool rely heavily on their big names and if they get injured they are severely weakened in that position. Whereas at Chelsea we have Internationals and even World Class players fighting for each position.
For example you have to argue that we have the strongest midfield in the league if you are talking about ability and most importantly experience. With our new 4-diamond-2 formation we have all these players fighting for a start as one of the diamond four: Lampard, Essien, Deco, Ballack, Joe Cole, Mikel, Malouda & Zhirkov. I personally do not see anyone else in the league that can rival our midfield and this is where it will be key this season.
So for me Fergie is right. Yes we are biased and yes we are all Blue through and through but can you guys see anyone else beating us to the title this season?
Yeah, fergie is damn right cos i don't see any team beating us to d premier league title..viva chelsea
